UPDATED: FEB 10, 2007 it poured out a nice dark, rich color. The smell of bourbon with a touch of chocolate. Had it sit out for about a half hour. Why you ask? So I could enjoy the wonderful taste of bourbon heaven. This is my second time I am drinking this and its even beter than the first. I am glad I bought a case of this fine beer. I can’t wait to try the other 3 beers from Tyranena’s series of big, bold, ballsy beers. Great job brewing this wonderful imperal poter. Had it again and just gets better. The longer you leave it out, the better it gets. You get all the aroma out there. Coffee, chocolate and the bourbon. What a combo. daknole (11049) - Scottsdale, Arizona, USA - SEP 25, 2010
From dstructo. Quite a treat. Black pour, rich brown head. Nice chocolate covered bourbon cordial aroma. Flavor is so smooth and still remarkably declicious. NO oxidation. Light barrel, bourbon, vanilal, caramel, toffee and chocolate. This one gets a WOW! LtJudge (468) - Muskego, Wisconsin, USA - MAR 15, 2006
Pours a thick, extremely dark color with a tiny tan head. This porter has a wonderful chocolate malt aroma, followed by hint of vannila. Then comes the distinct, but subtle bourbon overtone.Upon first sip, wow!silky smooth velvet-like chocolate/coffee/vanilla flavor that rolls off your tounge, followed by that bourbon overtone.Im not a huge bourbon aged fan,but this brew is wonderful! KUDOS to my favorite brewery! badbeer (434) - Iowa, USA - AUG 18, 2007
Pours out black with a light tan head that retains decent and leaves some lacing as well. Smell is outstanding; chocolate, vanilla, bourbon, French roast coffee, and a little molasses. Taste opens with some vanilla that leads right into some chocolate, toffee, and coffee notes. It’s not done there though, there is also some oak and bourbon as well as vanilla. Both smell and taste are 6 out of 5, just amazing. Lower carbonation and full bodied makes this an excellent sipper. I could sip on one of these every night, I just wish I had another so I could enjoy this masterpiece again. MacBoost (1901) - Victor, New York, USA - NOV 10, 2012
Got this as an extra from somebody... Thanks bro, whoever you are. Pours a subtle almost black with inky red edges. Almost no head. Aromas of chocolate, barrel, salty pretzels. A little edgy on the first sip. The bourbon taste boarderlines on the ridiculous. Amazing chewy bourbon character. Fuck me, this shit is blowing my mind. So salty, so chewy, so much bourbon. Fucken hell. This beer is everything a barrel aged imperial beer should be. Attenuated, complex, alcohol masked, barrel character, smoothly drinkable. Fuck this Is good shit.

12 oz bottle courtesy of The_Enemy. This beer pours to a deep brown to black color, with a tight white head that fades, and a soft carbonation. The nose on this beer is fantastic, with big aromas of dark chocolate, coffee, vanilla, and oak. The palate is soft and fat on the tongue with flavors of dark chocolate, coffee, mild roast, vanilla, bourbon, and oak. This beer finishes with more wonderful dark chocolate, coffee, and vanilla, then ends with a slightly warming, bourbon/oak flavor that lingers. Very impressive Imperial porter, and a very impressive use of the bourbon barrel to give this beer even more character. A great beer from a great brewery. hopscotch (11113) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - OCT 2, 2006
UPDATED: FEB 17, 2007 Bottle... GABF RB Tasting ’06...This beer rocks! ... Nearly pitch black ale (ruby, against bright light) with a mid-sized, creamy, tan head. Excellent retention. The aroma is a swirl of milk chocolate, vanilla and light bourbon with a touch of coconut. Tastes like a chocolate milk shake with a thimble-full of bourbon added. Sweet, but not cloyingly so. Full-bodied and silky with soft carbonation. Chocolatey, vanilla finish. World class beer! Thanks go out to MIBRomeo for sharing the bottle! Appearance: Pours a nearly opaque, near-black body with a thin, khaki-colored head.
Smell: An unmistakably bourbon-esque aroma, with full notes of vanilla, burnt toffee, brown sugar, and smoke.
Taste: Rich, velvety chocolate taste combined with vanilla beans and the smooth, subtle taste of bourbon. Lesser hints of coffee and anise. Finishes with a bit more bourbon and a light roastiness.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied, with a perfectly smooth, creamy mouthfeel. Low carbonation.
Drinkability: Its a treat to finally come across a beer that didn’t allow the bourbon barrel-aging to totally crush the load-bearing malt flavors underneath. brewblackhole (1588) - Muskego, Wisconsin, USA - MAR 11, 2006
UPDATED: MAR 15, 2006 The first of Tyranena’s big series brews and this one is going to be hard to top. Rich full roasted coffee chocolate vanilla, and a smidget of the bourbonin the aroma. Apperance is scary, almost gothicly scary. As black and dark as can be,darker than a Guinness. The first taste is a stew of coffee chocolatecarmel a hint of anise, and the far away call of the bourbon barrel. The silky mouthfeel melts your senses with its velvety smoothness. you swallow, everything eases down your throat, and then bam, there it is the succulent sweet smooth taste of bourbon. that rich taste of bourbon just improves and becomes more tantalizing as this brew warms. This beer definitely has to be out of the fridge a good half hour beore opening. A first class effort. Imay go back and rate this even higher after my second or third bottle. Price is way to low, good for us. BigBastard (668) - L.A., California, USA - JUN 18, 2006
UPDATED: JUN 28, 2006 Huge chocolatey sweet aroma. Flavor was super smooth chocolate, some toffee and coffee and toast. Normally beers aged like this taste like foul whisky to me, but not with this one. Really good and unbelievably smooth. I liked this a lot, it was delicious.
