Keg at the brewery. Clear dark amber, thin foamy tan head, poor retention. Aroma of raisin, toffee, whiskey, vanilla. Taste is toffee, raisin, bourbon, oak, vanilla. Medium bodied, tasty, warming, slightly buttery. nuplastikk (6452) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - JUN 18, 2017
12oz bottle. Unfiltered deep brown body, very attractive. Steady thin beige head. Really smooth, sweet. Great stuff. Doesn’t go overboard with the ABV...really lets the barrel sweetness shine. Still has great malt depth. Definitely what I dream that Rocky’s Revenge would taste like. A great beer. Unique, well executed. Picked up a four-pack 12-oz bottle from the Tyranena brewery taproom in Lake Mills, Wisconsin. Pours a dark amber brown brew with an average light beige head that dissolves to a heavy bubble ring. Aroma has more bourbon presence than the regular Rocky’s Revenge with caramel malt and a tough of oak. Taste is medium to full bodied, with flavors of vanilla caramel and chocoalte malts with a sweet bourbon. Finish has no distinct hop bitterness but more bourbon and oak flavors than the regular Rocky’s Revenge. It is Rocky’s Revenge with a bit more bourbon and oak flavor. Surprisingly smooth imperial brown with well integrated bourbon. A minority of beers that taste better than the smell. Rich and most pleasant.
Recent bottle from Wisc. Brian’s buddy, cheers. tmoreau (4631) - Lombard, Illinois, USA - MAY 2, 2016
On tap at The Rigby Pub & Grill in Madison, WI., and served to a slightly tulip rimmed snifter showing a ruby highlighted, black/brown hue, with a presentable layer of light tan head foam, and clingy spots of lacing. The nose was toasted, with some roasted qualities, quite malty, with dark caramel sweetness, a bit of barrel induced vanilla, and lurking, bourbony booziness. The taste was similar, with the promise of alcohol fulfilled, medium to full body, and decent carbonation to properly project the flavor. Almost Porter-like. Deep reddish brown pour with a beige head. Aroma is malt and bourbon. Taste is bourbon, vanilla, and malt. All the flavors are well balanced to create an enjoyable drinking experience. Another tasty BGW offering. Thank you Tyranena! djd07 (15543) - Houston, Texas, USA - FEB 14, 2016
Bottle. Pours a hazy brown with small off white head that lasts. The aroma is strong wood, vanilla, bourbon. Medium mouth, vanilla, toffee, bourbon, wood, very sweet, really enjoyed this.
