On tap at GTMW. Poured cloudy medium-deep brown with not a whole lot of head on top. The aroma was sweet, with bourbon and chocolate malts leading.. roast and tangy barrel accents.. came across as muddled and not very exciting. The flavor found tangy bourbon and oak upfront, with thick, sweet chocolate malts and vanilla behind.. solid balance.. a little better than the nose. Medium-bodied and not quite roasty enough on the palate.. surprisingly thin at times.. I was hoping for a lot more here. esjaygee (3904) - Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA - SEP 15, 2012
On tap at GTMW 2012. Dark brown with a thin tan head. Aroma of mild bourbon, chocolate, light vanilla, roasted malt and some oaky notes. Taste is sweet and bourbony with chocolate, vanilla, roasted malt and light alcohol. MIBRomeo (2570) - Wisconsin, USA - AUG 12, 2012
Pouring at GTMW 2012
Jet black pour almost no head. Sweet aroma vanillas and light chocolates but overall pretty light, likely due to the lack of any real carbonation. Well coated thick palate. Flavor is sweet touch of bourbon notes (vanilla and almost a maple syrup quality) clearly cocoa comes through and a bit of butter.. very even and well balanced. Thoroughly enjoyable. nuplastikk (6373) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - NOV 15, 2011
Draft at OF. Mild and mellow, delicious dark beer, Tyranena’s forte. Mellow carbonation, soft oaky bourbon tones. Big and doughy, full bodied. Excellent.
