12 oz. bottle poured to a Czech-pils glass, producing an overly active, billowy, brownish tan head that turned a mousse-like and stubbornly persistent layer covering the dark brown, amber & ruby highlighted liquid. The lacing showed thick, frothy, and spiraling qualities. The nose was roasted & very malty, with chocolate, caramel, a touch of treacle, and light woodiness. After waiting patiently to taste, the flavor added moderate, roasted & earthy bitterness, a touch of smoky astringency, cocoa, and subtle coffee. A little less than medium bodied, the texture thinned a bit, and the carbonation softened after a good deal of the initial effervescence was wasted on the display. Still pretty rich & tasty. Bottle from Discount Liquors in Milwaukee, WI. What a great store.
The beer is dark brown, approaching black, nearly opaque with a small beige cap. Aromas include the expected roasted malt, chocolate. Light char and coffee notes in the flavor. The body is perhaps a tad thin. Overall, pretty good, but perhaps a little weak in body and potency phaleslu (10336) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - MAY 5, 2014
Draft at The Old Fashioned. Pours a dark brown color with a small khaki head. Notes of chocolate, toasted and roasted malts, earth, coffee, and light cream. Very smooth mouthfeel, with moderate carbonation and a light to medium body. Good, simple, smooth, tasty porter. jefcon (1884) - Arlington, Virginia, USA - APR 11, 2014
Draft. Wonderfully smooth session-style porter, with a ton of cafe au lait, raw coffee, dark chocolate, and spice and fruit from the simple hopping.

355ml twist off bottle. Pours a dark brown with a long-lasting tan/offwhite head. Nice lacing. The smell is roasty, lighly smoky, some peat, plenty of unsweetened cocoa. The flavor once again brings to mind smoke. It is slightly metallic but nicely peaty with cacao nibs and a sharp bitterness. Nice one. rxeight (3114) - Illinois, USA - FEB 27, 2014

Rated on 6-05-2010 (Bottle) This beer pours a medium sized smooth tan head, opaque dark brown body and a fair amount of lacing. The aroma is malty, roasty, chocolate, and coffee. The taste is lightly bitter, malty, coffee, chocolate, and roasty. The palate is lightly tingly and a bit thin. This beer is light-medium bodied. This beer is very quaffable, has a nice roasty flavor, worth trying, and a beer I would drink again. Chuckaduck (674) - Highland Heights, Kentucky, USA - DEC 18, 2013
