Sweet chocolate. Significant hops. Lingering sweet malt. Rating gets more difficult the more you drink. arminjewell (9689) - East Lansing, Michigan, USA - MAR 5, 2011
Pours dark brownish black, thin but lasting tan head. Aroma has big notes of roast, chocolate, and some coffee. Taste is a bit thin, but has nice balance of bitter chocolate, some coffee, toffee and caramel notes, finishing bitter and slightly sweet from the cocoa. Pretty good stuff. saravn (8) - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - DEC 1, 2009 does not count
a smooth thick chocolately porter. it finishes a bit bitter. but still a very good beer. MrPickles (438) - Waunakee, Wisconsin, USA - NOV 21, 2009
Tap at Tyranena. Poured to a black but translucent body with a nice thick dark tan head. The aroma was pretty much malt and roast. The flavor was a good porter. But I did not get much of the chocolate at all. Good overall beer, but I expected more of the coco. madvike (3281) - Middleton, Wisconsin, USA - NOV 15, 2009
On tap at the brewery - Pours dark and luscious, with a creamy tan head. Smells lactic and slightly roasty, with a bit of a boozy twinge. Got a bit of coffee and chocolate, but didn’t smell as robust as some of their other imperial porters. This beer needs to warm up, and once it does there are some nice roasty, dark malt flavors that mix with some sweet malt notes. The chocolate comes through a bit as it warms, though it’s more of a dark, bitter chocolate than anything sweet. Finish is bitter roast, a slight hop twinge, and a nice charcoal ashiness. Smooth and creamy in the mouth, with a heavy mouthfeel that I love.

UPDATED: NOV 14, 2009 Draft at Sugar Maple: Pours a mostly opaque with a short-lived small creamy tan head. Has a sweet dark chocolate and doughy malts with some piny hops. Starts with a rich sticky dark caramel sweetness and bittersweet dark chocolate and coffee in the finish. A little underattenuated but still fairly enjoyable. phishpond417 (2088) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - NOV 13, 2009
$3 on tap at Dexters! What a deal :) Pours a murky brownish black with a head about a finger size. Tan and frothy but it dissipates rather quickly. The aroma doesn’t however, and it comes blasting through. Chocolate- not so much but everything else- roasted coffee, tofee and smoke are more the noticeable. Again, chocolate is very subtle but smoke and rich roasted malts are powerful and enticing. A really great deal for such a wonderful beer. I’ve been blessed by the beer fairy lately with all this good tasting beverages." nuplastikk (6373) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - NOV 12, 2009
Draft at the OF. Opaque black with a patchy beige head. Roasty chocolate aroma. Smooth and creamy mouthfeel. Excellent example of the style. Rich and full, with a smooth yet pleasantly bitter chocolate touch. One of the best I’ve had from Tyranena. Maintains it’s Porter characteristics while merging effortlessly with the bold Imperial ABV and cocoa nibs. JK (6240) - St. Louis Park, Minnesota, USA - OCT 1, 2009
Heavily roasted aroma. Black. Flavor is roasted grain, almost burnt, but there is chocolate in here as well, baking chocolate. Dry. Smooth palate. drewbeerme (3920) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - SEP 22, 2009
