3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours an inky, oily looking black with a minimal, although long lasting tan head. Aroma is roasted malts, cocoa, chocolate, and just hints of licorice. The taste is plenty of malts, more earthy actually. There is still a healthy amount of chocolate, especially in the aftertaste. The chocolate aftertaste is rather subtle, but it does linger in your mouth. I still find very subtle impressions of licorice. This is a bit sweet as well. The body is medium, while it has a smooth, creamy texture. Carbonation is limited. Very easy drinking here, although I get the feeling it might be a bit stronger than I realize.
Keg at the brewery. Clear dark brown, red highlights. Large frothy tan head, good retention. Aroma of roast, oats, chocolate. Taste is roast, oats, chocolate. Medium bodied, traditional. Tasty. DWestrick (758) - Ft Wayne, Indiana, USA - MAR 10, 2017
bottle. thick stout with chocolate notes. perfect for a cold day. on the mild side, but very delicious Strykzone (7363) - Wood River, Illinois, USA - AUG 22, 2016
12 ounce bottle. A big tan head falls slowly and the beer under it is dark brown with amber highlights. An earthy cocoa aroma with just a hint of hops behind that. Flavor is pleasant. That earthy chocolate and oatmeal are evident as is a bit of zingy hop bitterness. Citrus. Lactose is tasted later along with a hint of char. Nice. Weevo (175) - Indiana, USA - SEP 20, 2015
Bottle pours black with dark tan head. Lots of chocolate to the nose and palate. Nice and smooth, not a lot of bitterness. Would drink another

Pours a dark brown almost black like oil with similar viscosity and khaki colored head. Chocolate, and lots of it, oats, and a little roast on the nose; follows onto the palate. Full bodied and nice mouthfeel. Finishes with more chocolate and a nice balance of bitterness and sweetness. EyeAmBaldman (461) - Illinois, USA - JUL 31, 2015
Pours black with a medium khaki head that leaves very little lacing in the glass. Aroma is dark fruit and chocolate. Taste is full of dark chocolate and a pinch of fig. Has a bitter front end on the tongue but dissipates quickly in a flourish of chocolate. This is a finely crafted stout. JPDIPSO (6223) - Wauwatosa, USA - MAY 29, 2015
Very dark brown color with a rich and creamy, lasting tan head. Roasted malt and dark chocolate dominate the aromas, I think that is right where it should be. Hints of oatmeal only solidify the scents. Thick and creamy feel. Hints of dark caramel in the front. Roasted malts and extra dark chocolate work their way in mid quaff. A bit meaty at time. Still a solid stout. 2/10 twindadplus2 (715) - Wisconsin, USA - MAY 27, 2015
Bottle. Deep black with very thin tan head. Aromas of chocolate, and dark roasted chicory with a hint of vanilla. Taste is creamy chocolate and dark roasted malt. Full bodied and creamy on the palate with light carbonation. Very satisfying. ICEatALAMO (1350) - Troy, Michigan, USA - MAY 20, 2015
Bittle. The pour is dark with little top. The aroma is a chocolate malt bomb. The taste is just a solid stout that I could drink all day.
