COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We brewed our 2009 version of our Scotch Ale and will be tapping on ObamaNight (Jan 20, 08) as InaugurAle. We have slightly altered the recipe from last year, marginally increasing the amount of peated malt and using the traditional ingredient of roasted barley (just a wee bit)... we removed a dark caramel malt and replaced with a special malt that should also contribute well to the overall character. As always, we use plenty of Scotlands finest Golden Promise as well as our Wisconsin base malt.

Pours a medium amber with some lacy white head. Aroma is malty with lots of caramel. Not too much roasted notes though. Taste is sweet with a crisp bitter finish. Overall very balanced and cant really taste the alcohol. I really enjoyed this beer after a hard night.

A rich mahogany brown color with a small head. Nose is malty and sweet with hints of chocolate. Taste is full of malt and chocolate, with the alcohol well hidden. Carbonation is soft and texture is heavy. Finish is sweet and malty. Nice scotch ale. Quaff Score 8 / 10

Pours a muddy brown with a small off white head and aroma of toasty malt and caramel. Taste is of toasted malt, caramel, fruit notes, and chocolate with a dry, medium finish. Very drinkable for a scotch ale and nice flavors

Aroma is roasted malts, a hint of smoke and very strong brown bread. The flavor is brown bread, fruit, a hint of smoke and tangy/mildly sour finish.

From the bottle, peaty malt aroma with some nice caramel malts in the flavor and a damn good taste. A big fan of this scotch ale.

Pours a thick and murky soft brown with a thin sandy yellow tan had. Bready/buiscuity malts in the nose, herbal and earthy malts. Earthy and vinous malt notes in the flavor. Raisiny bready. Coffee. Muddled and weird. Coffee-ish sweetness on the finish. Full bodied with a slight carbonation.

Bottle. Light cherry, caramel malt, and alcohol aroma. Hazy orange-brown with small head. Sweet caramel malt and mildly bitter herbal hops flavor. Nice body. Solid, tasty beer.

Phenols dominate the nose. Color is spot on for a Scotch Ale. A bit too chocolately for my tastes, but Im not complaining. Good balance of malt sweetness that hits you for a second up front followed by the abundance of chocolate.
