n unusual beer that opened well with some nice sweetness & caramel in the early going, particularly with the nose but this never really carried to the taste & the beer was a bit of a disappointment by then; I was definitely expecting a lot more from this one given how highly rated it is as an altbier but I guess some of that is down to the fact that I’m not exactly a huge fan of the style. It will be interesting to see how the brewery’s DoppelStick compares to this offering but hopefully it will be at least a minor improvement on this one since it’s not exactly a beer that I’ll be rushing back to pick up again anytime soon sadly.
Clear mahogany color with a small head. Aroma nutty, with notes of wood, roast, and caramel. Taste roasty and nutty, not very sweet, notes of wood in the finish. phfyysik (1367) - Tartu, ESTONIA - AUG 4, 2017
Bottle 0,5l. Pours clear hazelnut brown with medium sticky off-white head. Aroma is sourish, caramel, fruits, plums, some raisin, dry. Taste is bitter, sourish, very dry, dust, some ash, light bread, some watery notes. Nice and dry beer! berkshirejohn (6588) - Bracknell, Berkshire, ENGLAND - JUL 27, 2017
An attractive 33cl swing-top bottle from Westholme Stores, Goring. A bright copper coloured pour with a loose off-white head; matlty aroma with some dried fruit; caramel malt taste with a herbal bitterness, much stronger than expected; and a dry bitter carmael finish. a good Alt.

Clear amber-to-copper body with an average, frothy, white head, mostly diminishing with some lacing, though: very low density of tiny bubbles.
Moderate hoppy (herbal) and malty (caramel, toasted) aroma with light notes of licorice(?).
Moderate-to-heavy bitter flavour with light sweet notes; long-lasting bitter and dry finish.
Light-to-medium body with watery texture; average carbonation; light metallic feeling in the finish. nybol (2281) - DENMARK - JUL 12, 2017
Fra fad. En god humlet øl, der overrasker ved at have en stærk gærsmag. Smagte dog lidt for meget af diacetyl JoshRaburn (131) - - JUL 11, 2017
Banana esters in the nose, followed by the typical central European hops I always think of as "stony". Quite bitter with a dry finish. The beer really grows on you. A bit like a British bitter, or perhaps De Koninck. Far superior to any Kolsch. leaparsons (10657) - Wigston, Leicestershire, ENGLAND - JUL 8, 2017
