2/22/05 330ml. Tasted side by side with the Sticke, Pinkus alt., and Alaskan Amber. Amber with long tan head. Sweet Biscuity aroma. Nice balance of biscuit malts and hops. Better than the sticke, Pinkus or alaskan. More balance. a nice refreshing alt. I’d love to get this fresh

UPDATED: JAN 22, 2008 On tap @ Bruxellensis (thanks Andy). Dark amber color with an foamy, off-white head. Malty, grainy aroma with some hops. Great balance as coffeeish malts bring in medium bitterness with an odd touch of smoke and wood. Dry-bitter finish. Maybe a bit thin. Quenching yet full of character--my kind of beer. RE-RATED after repeat samplings from bottle and at the pub in Dusseldorf. Easily my favorite Alt, thanks to the uncompromising bitterness. Damn my American palate. I is what I is.

Flip-top bottle. Small vanilla colored head that was fizzy, no lacing, transparent, visible carbonation, and an orange hue. Malty, caramel and fruity nose. Flavor was malty, caramel, bitter, and thin tasting. Smooth, thin mouthfeel. Light body. Not a bad brew, just one that I truly didn’t enjoy all that much as there are better ones out there of this style. Lacked character.

This flippy top bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a medium sized head of foamy fine to medium sized tan colored bubbles that were mostly lasting and left behind a hazy softly carbonated brown colored body and a good lacing. The nice aroma was brown malt. The thin mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish. The thin flavor contained notes of brown malt. A decent one but not one that I would consider buying again.

Bottled (Thanks DerDoppelbock). Dark amber colour with big beigeish brown head, lacing. Aroma is slightly roasted malts along with some earthy notes. Flavour is slight roasted malts along with very fruity notes, just to finish in hops and some very vegetably notes, A nice thing indeed. Very refreshing.

Cool looking flip top bottle purchased from Beer World of Largo that pours a solid clear amber color with a tan head. The aroma is light with a mixture of varying degrees of roasted malts. The taste starts with roasty malts and slightly astringency and then picks up a hint of fruitiness for a moment. The flavors are decidedly smooth and blended. Actually there’s a medley of fruit notes toward the finish and lightly roasted to Munich type malts surface to add a bit more complexity.

7/13/2007: Uerige Alt is hazy and honey-colored. There is an off-white head the fades away and leaves a thin veil and some scattered lacing. The aroma is dry and floral with notes of bread, fruit (i.e. apples), and maybe even a hint of oxidation. The flavor has some pale and lightly toasted maltiness, a hint of butter (only noticed this in the first taste), and a mild to moderate bitterness. The finish is a bit dry and tastes like herbal tea. There is also a strong orange peel flavor in the finish and aftertaste. This beer has a medium body and is very smooth on the palate. Uerige Alt is decent overall, but I prefer a bit more malt and dark malt complexities when it comes to Altbier. Actually, this beer tastes a lot like an ESB...

0,33 L/11,2 fl. oz. flip-top (Bottled on 25.11. 4,5% Alc./Vol. Code 12 25) from The Party Source. Rating #213 for this beer...

Emil (6065) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - JUL 11, 2007
Bottle. A ruby beer with a off-white head. The aroma is of caramel malt, cookies and grass, so is the taste, bitter. Medium body with a thin dry finish.

Bottle. Pours rusty brown red with a nice ivory head. The aroma is malty with some caramel and quite a bit of fruit (mango, pear, plum, peach), with some herbal hops, too. The flavor isn’t as rich as the nose. Dusty, papery hops start up front and work toward a reasonable toasty finish. Dry aftertaste. Ok, but nothing too great.

Bottle. Bronze with a powerful off-white head. Well-balanced aroma with some fruitiness, caramel and dusty hops. Spicey and bitter flavour with a dry finish. Very good.
