COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Uerige Alt is Germany’s richest bitter beer. Nevertheless (or even for that reason), this legendary old-fashioned beer is so full-bodied and aromatic. Our top-class specialty has been brewed since 1862 from water, barley malt, caramel malt, roasted malt, clusters of hops - and with our very special Uerige yeast. Our Uerige Alt is regularly selected among the ten best beers in Germany. It has an alcohol content of 4.7% and a minimum freshness of eight weeks.

Geprobeerd met Roelzie1986. Het is een donkerbruin bier met een medium schuimkraag. Het schuim is wel snel weg. Het heeft een moutige smaak, wat tonen van rozijnen lijkt.

Bottle from getrankmarkt. Shame that the bottle wasnt properly sealed. It fizzed over when moving and so the beer was flat as a pancake so a little unfair. As a flat beer it was actually quite nice, very smooth, very rich like a delicious English ESB.

Tap at their pub. Pours very dark, csramelly brown. Decent white head ( extremely stable and fluffy ) smell is full, caramelly, some darker malts , mild ewrthy features. Taste is full, mildly metallic, bit bitter, refreshing hop touch, mild caramelly, malty base. Very low carbo, as it is served from a wooden barrel, which makes it very easy to drink.

Being brought up on Altbier I cannot be regarded as 100% objective, but this is one of the best beers I know. Fresh with a strong taste and slight bitterness it is a must, best tried outside of the brewery’s outlet together with a jolly crowd of beer afficionados.

2017-07-15. Hazy brown body, nice foamy tan head and lace fades. 3+ Aroma is malty, lightly earthy and metallic. Flavour has a nice malt base, notes of caramel, dry toasty malt and very light tangy/metallic undertone occasionally. Average bodied palate, with good carbonation. Decent. 7/3/7/3/15+ Bottle from the LCBO, Toronto.
