Carnival comes but once a year - and you can only enjoy Sticke beer at Uerige twice a year. It contains more malt and hops and has a higher alcoholic content than normal Altbier. And our guests appreciate it! In earlier days it used to be whispered hand over mouth that Uerige was serving Sticke again because the master brewer had portioned the ingredients too generously. With today’s fully-automated operation, this could not happen. So Sticke beer is brewed intentionally - and this certainly doesn’t negatively effect either its quality or taste.

The two dates every year are always the same. The third Tuesday in January and October are the two Sticke days.

poured a cloudy brown with fluffy head. Hint of caramel malt aroma. Clean mellow flavor. Well balanced with light malt flavor and minimal hop bite and finishes smooth. But what’s with the cloudy appearance???

Scopey (14730) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - JUL 7, 2017
Bottle from Utobeer. It pours hazy deep brown with a decent off-white head. The aroma is rich malty action, caramel, brown bread, fruit cake, molasses, toffee and toasted nut. The taste is dry, bitter - sweet, rich wood, leather, varnish, spice, resin, touch of spice, earth, toast and fruit cake with a drying and woody finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Good classic example of the style.

Kita (2150) - Koper, SLOVENIA - JUL 4, 2017
Swing top bottle, 0.33l. Cloudy amber brown color with thick creamy tan-like head and soft visible carbonation. Aroma of caramel, flowers, honey, grass and dried fruit. Taste starts with medium sweet caramel and floral, following is grassy, mouthfeel is warming, while finish is moderate bitter. Medium to full body, thick texture and average carbonation in palate. Bon Jovi’s "Stick to your guns" comes on my mind with this one...

MrTipple (4968) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - JUL 2, 2017
Intense caramel, biscuit, sweet grain and cereal malts, lightly toasted rye bread. Clear, dark gold, massive, off-white head. Light sweet. More sweet dark malts, dark molasses, while grain bread, medium carbonation, medium to full bodied. Very nice Altbier, rich malts. Bottle from Utobeer, Borough.

ALIBALI (2090) - Kiel, GERMANY - JUN 16, 2017

330 ml bottle. Pours a hazy, light mahogany with a quickly disappearing head. The aroma is lightly yeasty (dough) and lightly malty (caramel).
