Cask (gravity dispense) at GBBF, day 5 on 5 August 2006. Golden colour. Leafy aroma. Rather unexpected aniseed element in the flavour. Smooth but with some apple notes. Maybe a bit green still.

Cask Handpump at the Babington Arms JDW, Derby 15/08/2007
Sweet aroma. Reddish brown coloured and a little rich on the palate. Sweet and fruity with some bitterness in a caramel malt finish. Rastacouere (6177) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - SEP 21, 2007
A light brown cover stays over the clearish chestnut ale. A pretty hesitating ale that never really takes a direction. Initial nutty notes evolve from hazelnut to nutella. A certain growing dryness is also a feature, yet some minor acidity also joins the finish and clashes. Tries to become toasty, but fails. Not so tasty for 5.2%. Cask, Far From The Madding Crowd. Copper, attractively sticky milk froth white head. Strawberry jam and an attractive blackberry aroma. Deliciously poised flavor; abundant rosy esters, fresh, full but balanced hopping that lends a sophisticated texture to the cool, soft malt. Sweet and substantial without being sticky at all. A terrifically skillful combination of simple elements, and of a beer shining under proper serving care. Who is this brewery, and how have I not heard of them before this?

Cask conditioned - handpump - Malt Shovel Northampton. A golden coloured beer with some lacing. The aroma has some light citricity from the hops, with a touch of warming malt. The taste is a good balance of hoppiness, malts and alcohol. Quite a decent drink. harrisoni (19024) - Ashford, Kent, ENGLAND - AUG 22, 2006
Cask at GBBF 2006. We’d been waiting 3 days for this to come on the Bar Nouveau and I think it was the first beer Silk brought back. Hazy gold, disappearing bubbly off white head. Hop and woody aroma. Bit rubbery, probably as still not ready yet. Strong golden bitter. Not bad. omhper (25382) - Tyresö, SWEDEN - AUG 10, 2006
[Cask at GBBF] Golden colour. Fruity, perfumy hop aroma. Sweet with solid but soft malty body. Well hopped and rather fruity. Balanced bitter finish. imdownthepub (15067) - Banbury, Oxfordshire, ENGLAND - AUG 7, 2006
Cask conditioned at GBBF ’06. Gold colour with faint head. I think I must have been so grateful to find a rateable beer left that I made this my beer of the Festival. Fruitly Bitter?? with a long, decent but not crisp finish. Ok a little mustiness and some fruit. A reasonable beer. SilkTork (5781) - Southampton, United Kingdom, Hampshire, ENGLAND - AUG 7, 2006
GBBF 2006. First beer on the Sat. There are very few beers left, and I’m pleased to get one of the beers on my hit list. I didn’t get many! Anyway, this is a greasy golden ale with spicy and flowery hops and sweet, sweet malt. Hops are earthy and sit awkwardly on the sweet malt.
