COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

English: It’s a beer that’s been thought about for quite some time – actually since the brewers first visit to Sherbrooke Liquor in Edmonton, AB, Canada a few years back, and finally I did it – I manned up and did it! After a whole freaking day of brewing coffee for this beer I can truly say it is Craft. If not devoted to the product who in their right mind would brew hundreds of litres of coffee for a beer? The result is a big and bold smooth Porter with discrete vanilla and coffee notes.
Hops: Magnum, Nelson Sauvin Malts: Pilsner, Caramel, Rye, Oats, Chocolate, Black, Vanilla and coffee.

Sigmund (7539) - Tau, NORWAY - SEP 12, 2015
330 ml bottle, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. BB date 02.07.2014. ABV is 10,0%. Black colour, moderate tan head. Strong aroma of roast malts, coffee and vanilla (no surprise), also chocolate and some caramel. Medium sweet and roasty flavour with coffee in the driver’s seat, also plenty of chocolate, vanilla and caramel. A nice dessert beer.

Mustigt söt men inte så stor doft. Svag vanlijton. Grynaktig foderdoft, halm och melass. Färgen är så gott som ogenomträngligt brun-röd. Kompakt skum med lång halveringstid. Stor, kraftig smak. Mycket kraftigt rostad. Kaffe och vanlij i stora doser och sedan en örtig pepprighet kombinerad med halvsöt malt. Eftersmaken lyfter fram salmiak och lakrits. Obalanserad och för mycket muskler. Mer uppvisning än elegans.

Bottle from trade with Plovmand, many thanks! Sehr dunkelbraune/schwarze Farbe, schöne bräunliche Schaumkrone. Geruch schokoladig, süß, Vanille, angenehm röstmalzig. Geschmack mild röstmalzig, Kaffee, Vanille, trocken, kräftiger Körper, gut!

Bottle thanks to bursprak! Pours inky black, medium tan head, dissipates fairly quickly but leaves nice lacing. Aroma is coffee and vanilla for sure, some roasty malt and cocoa. Flavor is medium sweet, medium bitter, fairly sharply acidic. Lots of coffee and vanilla, burned cocoa. Fullish body, lingering bitterness. A bit high on acidity, otherwise not bad.

UPDATED: JUN 5, 2015 0.33 bottle. Very dark brown color and a small, beige head which leaves a thick lacing. Very coffee-like aroma, some real vanilla, dark malts, some meat, and marzipan. The aroma of coffee is so distinctive that if I knew anything about coffee I would be able to distinguish the type. Taste is very malty, again coffee, delicate roast, but also some hop bitterness. Medium to full body, creamy texture, and average carbonation. Finish is delicate, relatively speaking of course, less imposing. Overall the beer is good quality-wise but I am not a big fan of coffee brews.
