COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

English: The smoothness of this black fluid takes you by surprise. No, this is not an extreme beer! No, this is no hop explosion! This is smoothness! Deliciously tasty, subtle toastiness and a hint of hops – like a long petting of your taste buds. And at only 7,8 % alc. this is the beer you want to drink all night. For your grilled steak, your chocolately desserts and your creamy blue cheeses.
Hops: Cascade, Simcoe Malts: Pilsner, Caramel, Rye, Oats, Chocolate, Black.

Ernest (7749) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - DEC 12, 2013
Bottle from BarleyWine, Copenhagen (BB July 2014). Head is initially average sized, frothy, light brown, mostly lasting. Body is dark brown to black. Aroma is moderately malty (roasted grain, chocolate, nuts), lightly to moderately hoppy (herbs, flowers), with light notes of tar. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, moderately to heavily bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation, lightly to moderately alcoholic. Pleasant aroma if a bit simple. A little stark and unbalanced in the mouth, but certainly drinkable. Not bad but nothing special

Bottle with SlackerMads - BB. 17.7.2014. Pours black with a lasting and fine lacing huge tan frothy head. Aroma is roasted malt, butterscotch, labre larver, resin, chocolate, soy, hints of bubblegum and rye. Taste is moderate sweet- and light+ bitter. Body is medium, texture is creamy, carbonation is moderate. Apart from the butterscotch it is a fine brew. Finishes balanced. Hops are not really evident in the aroma. I’ll have to try another batch.

Bottle. Pitch black with a large creamy light brown head. Vegetables, grain, roasted malt, light bitter chocolate, butterscotch. spicy rye. Simcoe and cascade notes escape me. Roasted light/medium bitter finish. Medium body, oily/light creamy texture, soft/medium carbonation. Nice bitter finish and the general idea seems to be in place, but there are some flaws.

Opaque black - brown beer, good pale tan head. Palate is light and airy with mild fine carbonation. The dark malt is quite light, no roast but there is a touch of bitterness. Lactose and a little rye spice. A little bitter licorice and toffee before the semi dry finish. Not bad.
