BF 2013. Deep brown, close to black, colour with a small beigeish brown head. Aroma is toasted and roasted malts along with some slight chocolate and mild ripe dark fruits. Flavour is chocolate, mild toasted wooden notes, some toffee, ashes and also quite big on the bitterness. Yet mellow and smooth with a good body.
On tap. Pours an opaque black with a small off-white head. Sweet roasty, licoricey aroma - I’m beginning to feel I can really recognize rye when I encounter it although I find it difficult to describe its rustic character. Medium body, a broad variety of roasty flavors and a solid bitterness in the finish, from both hops and roast. 110512 madmitch76 (24980) - , Essex, ENGLAND - SEP 14, 2013

Opaque black - brown beer, good pale tan head. Palate is light and airy with mild fine carbonation. The dark malt is quite light, no roast but there is a touch of bitterness. Lactose and a little rye spice. A little bitter licorice and toffee before the semi dry finish. Not bad.
