COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

English. Sorachi Ace was developed for the Japanese Sapporo Breweries in the late eighties. It has a very citrussy and lemony scent and taste. When used in large quantities it may resemble dill. Truly a unique hop that resembles nothing youve had before. Anyways, here you have a pale ale brewed on pale malts, a slight addition of caramel malts and oats for the smoothness. Massively hopped of course.
Hops: Sorachi Ace Malts: Pilsner, Caramel

33 cl bottle @ home. Pours slightly murky amber with a white head that leaves a little lacing. Aroma is spicy, slightly tart, grapefruit, fruity hops. Flavour has the same spicy, tarty, grapefruity notes that dominates the aroma.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy orange/amber with a big creamy egg shell head. Good lacing. Lightly spicy, grassy citrusy hop aroma. A wee bit tart. Has a weird off-note; somewhat barf-like, but not really. Flavour is also a bit spicy, with an orange peel note and and a grape fruit-like bitterness. Tart. The finish is dry and has the same grape fruit bitterness. Lingering light alcohol burn, which is surprising considering the abv. A bit too much carbonation. Overall okay and well-balanced, but the bitterness feels intrusive; guess Im not really a Sorachi Ace person. 17.08.12.

Pours bright orange with a nice whote head. Smells... hops! Citrus with hints of herbs. Tastes... nothing new, just as it smells only with sweetness and bitterness added into it. Nice ale.
