COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

English. Sorachi Ace was developed for the Japanese Sapporo Breweries in the late eighties. It has a very citrussy and lemony scent and taste. When used in large quantities it may resemble dill. Truly a unique hop that resembles nothing you’ve had before. Anyways, here you have a pale ale brewed on pale malts, a slight addition of caramel malts and oats for the smoothness. Massively hopped of course.
Hops: Sorachi Ace Malts: Pilsner, Caramel

50cl bottle, bbe 26.03.2013. Poured hazy golden with a lacing, dirty white head. Dill and lemon in aroma. Flavor is exactly the same, dill, lemon and also more malty tones, dill also in the bitter finish. Weak body. Watery.

(Tap 24/04-2012) Low white head, unclear yellow color, slim body, good bitterness, not very balanced body vs bitterness, hoppy aroma. Brewdogs SA is way better.

mjs (7357) - Helsinki, FINLAND - MAY 25, 2012
(Bottle, 0.5 l, at Pikkulintu, 20120525) The beer poured ambed and hazy. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had malts, metallicness and grass. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were malts, butter, grass and bitterness. Aftertaste was bitter. A confusing beer. A pale ale having Czech lager characteristics. Not my favourite.

KnutAlbert (6754) - Oslo, NORWAY - MAY 24, 2012
Bottle from a Copenhagen kiosk. Pale amber. Rich hop aroma, this gives bitterness as well as a strong feling of rotting vegetables. Bordering on funky, ends up with lots of tannin. Noe very suitable as a single hop.

TBone (17532) - Pori, FINLAND - MAY 21, 2012
Bottled 500ml (Beer Hunters, BB 03/2013)
Hazy orange color, small steady white head. Typical Sorachi-aroma: blackcurrant leaves, dill, citrus and nettles. Also some buttery notes. Light-bodied. Quite bitter flavor. Citrus and grapefruit, birch leaves, dill. Some sugary notes. Long lingering aftertaste. Sorachi Ace is not one of my favourites.
