Collab of Uiltje and SNAB, tap at Beerlovers’ Bar during Uiltje’s tap takeover there, thanks Craftmember for sharing. Moussy, off-white, dense head over a black beer with hazy burgundy edges. Aroma of fondant chocolate, ripe black cherries, espresso, raisins, beef stock cubes, toasted peanuts, bayleaf, walnut oil, caramel, iron. Dried fruit sweetishness in the onset, some dried berry sourishness and lightly ’beefy’ umami, soft carbo, nutty malt body, bit caramelly but eventually toasted, softly bittersweet with a sharper, bit metallic edge, on the thin side but still filling enough; soft bitter ending, toasted bitterness plus a dash of spicy hoppiness, but the sweetish hazelnutty flavor lingers afterwards. Rounded, elegant, classically conceived ’Irish’ stout, reminds me a bit of Beamish, but with a more filling nuttiness to it.

Thanks for sharing AdamChandler & Heather! Sampled draft during "Total Tap Takeover - Uiltje" @ Beerlovers Bar. Black, big creamy mocha head. Nose is mellow roast, slightly ashy, powdery chocolate, bit grainy thin. Taste is bit thin grainy cheap mocha, chocolate, powdery, basic, cheap chocolate. Decent grainy, bit thin bodied. Body is pretty good for the style. Not my favourite style but a pretty decent entry.

kraddel (8323) - Antwerp, BELGIUM - MAY 26, 2017
Tap at beerlovers bar. Pours very dark brown, not much head. Smell is coffee like roast, very intense, rather sharp, some crispy bacon ( I know it sounds weird, and no I do not mean smoke here ) . Taste is fizzy, lightbodied, roasty, again some coffee, but more blended in than the style’s most famous example. Decent body, and a more natural carbo. Some touch of bitterness, and a very interesting, slightly hidden-sweet backbone. Very nice one.
