COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
First brewed in small batches annually to commemorate Uintas anniversary, this soul-warming brew is now available year-round. (Uintas anniversary is observed and noted by the change of the roman numeral on the label.) Uintas award winning barley wine has a dark amber hue with a rich malty character. Serious amounts of hops are used to balance its hardy alcohol content of over 10% ABV. Originating in England in the nineteenth century, barley wines are brewed with the same traditional ingredients as beer: water, malted barley, hops and yeast. There are no grapes or fruit used in the brewing process. The name barley wine refers to its alcohol content being similar to that of most wines, ranging from 8.5% to 14% ABV. Unlike most beers, barley wines age remarkably well. If you have the will power, set an Anniversary Barley Wine aside for a year or more.

This is the XV, aged for 1 1/2 years, Aroma is sweet and musty, with a little golden raison and sherry. Languid on the tongue. Slightly sour, and its lost most of its cloying syrupy quality. Finishes with burnt toffee and fire. Could still be cellared for another year or five.

In mouth, a nice caramel malt with vinous notes, treacle, light butterscotch, alcohol warmth, resinous hops, light oxidation, pleasant and smooth.

Frothmeister (782) - Ontario, CANADA - MAR 30, 2017
12oz bottle. Pours a lightly hazed garnet with a tan head. On the nose, resinous hops, dark dried fruits, faint molasses, and a very light note of cocoa. Taste wise, sweet and full bodied with a load of resinous hops, lots of sticky dried fruit notes, and light hints of dark coffee that head into toffee, a big whack of resinous hops, faint earthy notes with some molasses, and some mineral bitterness in the long malty resinous finish. In the world of barley wines, this isnt terribly complex, but its SO goddamn tasty, so right now, who cares about complexity!
