Bottle: nice dark coloring. Minimal to no head. Medium to large amount of carbonation. Porter-ish flavor. Not bad for my 1st black lager. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone Suckas! :-)

From a bottle. Pours black with a foamy, frothy beige head and lots of lacing. Tastes nutty, like light coffee, light sweetness, grains, very smooth and tasty. Light body and low carbonation. Smells like roasted grains and nuts.

Bottle. Pours dark, cola brown with creamy beige head. Aroma is toasted and chocolate malts, lager yeast, toffee, light raisins, and light earthy notes. Flavor is dry chocolate malts, light earthy hop bitterness, and faint dark fruit esters; dry finish. Light/medium body and medium carbonation.

a lager brew with a bit of roasted malt and a hint of cocoa and perhaps coffee. lower alcohol not evident and the body is nice enough with some substance and smooth carbonation it feels airy like a milkshake. guess overall robust is a good definition.

Location: Sampled at Living Social Beerfest, 12/6/13

Aroma: The nose is on the light side, with roasted malts, some caramel, and a little bread
Appearance: It pours a dark brown-black color with a small, off-white head and average lace
Flavor: The taste is similar, plenty of roast flavor, some malty sweetness, and a light bitterness
Palate: The body feels light for the style, but not watery, with a decently clean, dry finish
Overall Impression: I found this too be a nice, drinkable, but not all that exciting beer. Theres nothing wrong with it per se, but I cant think of a reason to rush out for it either.

12 oz bottle pours a black color with a thin off white head. Aromas of dark roasted malt, nutty, slight smokiness. Medium bodied, smooth, very good example of this style

Dark roasted and burnt malt flavors. Reminiscent of Bassets liquorice. Very soft and supple schwarzbier.

Best by 11JUL13 Black with a nice light tan quilt. Smells malty, some coffee, some soil, some leather - all components come together nicely. I like the nose. Robust flavor with leather, cocoa, dark chocolates, coffee (espresso tradiitional), a slight earthy character. well fucking done. Medium on full bodied with moderate, but prickly carb. This is a sincerely well done beer. Absolute delight for the style. Really recommend this.
