Dark brown with an off white head and light lacing. Roasted malts, nutty or earthy with chocolate. Much the same in the flavor. Nice beer. durhambeer (2500) - Durham, North Carolina, USA - OCT 20, 2011
Bottle from Sam’s; cool label. Pours black with creamy, soft tan head. nose of roast malt, burnt nuts, and burnt sugar--all in a pleasant way. Taste is a bit thin, but solid. mansquito (6785) - Nueva York, New York, USA - OCT 28, 2011
Whole Foods, P st, DC sixer ($10): Pours a black color with a brownish head. Chocolate and roasted malts aroma. Taste has a really nice profile. Chocolate and roasted malts in right parts. My only complaint is that this beer is a little thin. All in all, this is a good beer. boFNjackson (4201) - Portland, Oregon, USA - NOV 17, 2011
Bottle... Poured deep, dark brown -- near black -- with a thick, light beige head. Nose had some roasted, nutty grains. A little bit of a penny-like copper flavors, some toasted malted grains, mild citrus hop spice, cocoa, and a little bit of bitterness.

Head is initially average sized, frothy, light brown, mostly diminishing.
Body is dark brown to black.
Aroma is moderately malty (roasted grain, chocolate, coffee, husks), trace hops (herbs), with a note of minerals.
Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter.
Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter, slightly husky.
Light to medium body, watery/velvety texture, lively carbonation.
Doggone it, if only the malt extraction was cleaner, this would be brilliant. It’s still an enjoyable quaffer in a style that is all too often ignored completely. Nice coffee note, nice mouthfeel considering its size, and nicely balanced. If not for the somewhat husky malt character, this could be a repeat purchase for me...easily the best thing I’ve ever had from Uinta. FunkyBrewster (1518) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - DEC 8, 2011
12 oz bottle. Pours a deep brown with a small light beige froth. Aroma is lightly roasty, lots of bitter cocoa, a touch of cola and just a little char character. Flavor starts with some roast and a cocoa, again a bit of cola, and coffee before a quick bitter old coffee note. Medium body and a sharp carbonation. 12oz bottle. Dark reddish-brown in color, translucent, with a small bit of tan foam. Very nice roasty aroma with nuttiness and milk chocolate. The flavor is good if a bit weak on the finish. Nuts, chocolate, coffee, and drying roast. Medium-light in body with average carbonation. Very nice beer for the low ABV. It’s Utah, I understand. Bottle from Pacific Liquor: Nose is mild with only a minor aroma of lightly roasted malts and a hint of coffee beans. The flavor was just as subtle as the aroma except for a roasty and sweet taste of decaf coffee flavor that has had too much sugar added. Appearance was a dark brown opaque liquid with a tiny fluffy head on top. Cornfield (5569) - Oak Forest, Illinois, USA - JAN 14, 2012
From the bottle this poured a dark brown body, nearly opaque, with a modest but sustained tan head. The aroma was toasted bread, cocoa powder, and a suggestion of smoke. It had a medium body with soft carbonation. The flavor was fairly reflective of the nose and had the addition of a light earthy rootiness and a very mild bitterness. A very tasty brew that needs repeating.
