COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Launch into the exquisite flavors of bourbon with splashes of vanilla. Watch for currents of dark chocolate and dried fruit. Generous amounts of hops and malts make for a smooth journey from start to finish. Decadent desserts and aged cheeses make superb companions.

Dark orange/brown pour with a billowy off white head. Nice lace. Aroma was rich caramel malts, good bit of booze, light bourbon and an overall sweetness. Flavors were right on par, miles of caramel, sweet malts, just a touch of bourbon, light bittersweet finish, somewhat dry and woody. Smooth and full mouthfeel, medium carbonation. Overall a nicely done barley wine, the bourbon could have played a bigger role and I would have been a bigger fan.

Pours thick, dark brown with a thin tan head. Aromas of candied apples, toffee, cherries, tobacco, bourbon, & orange zest. Taste is incredibly complex with all the aromas coming thru in layers. Starts off with dark, dried fruits. Middle shows off the tobacco, maple syrup, & cloves from bourbon barrels as well as roasted malts. Ends with a floral & juicy citrus hop combo. A lot of sweet, tropical fruits in finish. Medium body with a light carbonation. Tiny bit of booze heat at the end. This is an outstanding BBA barleywine...

750ml bottle @ home. Bottled 2013.09.25. Pours a rich and cloudy brown colour with a reasonable tan head that diminishes to a thin covering. Nose is of molasses, malts, vanilla and some oak. Flavour is licorice, molasses, toffee, and oak. Fairly boozy and hot even for the age. Mild bitter finish that lingers a touch on the palate.

750 ml. bottle sampled @ HopisHop B.U.M.B. 2016. Dark amber, tanned head. Nose is warming oxidized malt syrup, low iron, sugar, herbal sweet sticky malts, not very bourbon forward. Taste is lightly bitter herbal, you get more sweetness as it warms up, sugar, herbal, pleasant toffee & caramel with low herbal malt bitterness, nice, sugar, little bourbon actually but it is a nice malty treat as it is so it doesn’t matter. Thick malt, herbal sugar body.
