Detour blazes the trail for fresh and bold Double IPAs. Four varieties of hops combine to step up the flavor profile. A hoppy adventure that finishes dry. Big in alcohol and character. Venture to pair with other spirited flavors such as those found in spicy ethnic foods.

Pours a deep red amber color with a modest, bubbly light tan head. Aroma is fantastic. Lots of hops - lots of citrus orange and lemon with a very hefty dose of earthy hops presence. A very nice sweetness comes in late from the caramel malt. Flavor starts off with a spicy, earthy hops kick with a sweet caramel malty flavor in the middle and finishes with some orange/lemon citrus mixed with a light heat from the alcohol. Flavor is pretty well balanced for an imperial. Palate is pretty smooth, light dryness and a strong alcohol kick that works with the hop combination in this beer. Overall really good and what you expect from an IIPA.

I found this to be a wonderful IPA. DIPA. Lasting head. Very nice and wonderful aroma. Aroma just as nice as the flavor perfect balance of hop and grain. palate is not to bitter, well balanced with a strong hop bite. Malty with a strong hop feel. GrEAT!

Sampled at 4 Hands. A copper pour with a beige interrsting head. A sweet fruity nose. Big malts. Big biting hops are tart citrus. A rich feel. They did not hold back on this one.

750ml bottle. Pours dark amber with a dense head. Good retention. Pine, citrus, a little resin, floral hops. Good DIPA. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Appearance was clear amber with creamy lasting tannish 3 finger head, rings of lacing. Aromas was sweet toffee caramel malts with sublime citrus fruits hints of pine with no alcohol. Taste was sweet malts upfront then give way to tangerine, mango, lemon and pine, some heat from alcohol. Palate was smooth soft CO2 with medium body, sweet malty, fruity, piney lasting finish. Smooth Utah DIPA, try it.

8/04/2011: Detour Double India Pale Ale... Aroma: Pine/resin and honey malt. Appearance: Shiny amber color with a lofty, 1.5-finger beige head that hangs around for the duration; the beer is mostly clear with a gentle level of carbonation. Flavor: Bitter and floral with some pine and citrus; weak maltiness; well-balanced. Palate: Medium-full, a bit slick and soapy. Overall: Good, but not necessarily distinctive.

A pretty good DIPA. Lots of hoppiness with a great caramel flavor with some fruit even out the flavor.

Bottle from secret Santa pours a reddish brown orange with a medium khaki head. Aroma of spicy hops with caramel malts. Spicy hops mix well with caramel malts that become rye like, with a big hit of alcohol.

Corked and capped 750ml bottled 4/20/12. Pours an opaque orange with plenty of eggshell head. Aroma is bready, sweet, apricot, pitted fruit, and citrusy hops. Taste is even and balanced, with a nice hoppy bite.
