750 ml bottle to oversized snifter (shared with the Mrs.; thanks douglas88). Looks good; black with foamy beige head. Smells of semi-sweet malt and booze with some bitterness. Tastes like it smells, only better, with notes of chocolate. Good on the palate. Good stuff!

Bottle pours with a deep mahogany body that supports a mocha looking head of foam. The aroma offers up dark roasted malts, burnt malts, some earthy maltiness and faint dark fruity esters off in the background. The taste is rich inviting goodness coming from the likes of dark roasted malts to burnt malts and then moving into chocolate and earthy malt goodness. This is just rich and deep and fudge brownie yum. I get faint sweet dark fruity esters echoing away far off in the distance. Yummers!

On tap at PPD a while back, pours a deep brown with some creamy, off white head. Nose has quite a bit of caramel and brown sugar, some vanilla, molasses, burnt toast, some dark fruit notes. Flavor has just the right amount of barrel, some char and light smoke, lots of crusty burnt toast, vanilla, caramel, some dark chocolate. Full bodied, but thankfully dry. Well made.

Overpriced bottle at Freakin Frog. Slight chocolate to this porter. But aroma doesn’t give off chocolate so much as something else. Slight roast. Creamy.

Bottle. Pours jet black with a creamy dense beige head. The aroma is bourbon, vanilla, oranges, chocolate and hard roasted malt. The flavor is hard roasted, ripe fruit, licorice, bourbon, vanilla and chocolate. Nice one. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle sample at the Uinta tasting at Blacklick Wine & Spirits on 2/7/13. Darkest brown in color with a thick tan head. Aroma of brownies, roast and oak. Malty, chocolatey and roasty flavor with a bit of sourness before a roasty finish.

FROTHINGSLOSH (8184) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - JUL 11, 2014
From the July 2014 3R6P gathering. +++ Sampled from a 750 ml brown bottle this beer poured a black color with a huge foamy dark tan head that lingered forever and left decent lacing. The aroma was cola, anise, vanilla, cocoa and red wine. The flavor was toasty malts, vanilla, wood, cocoa, anise, red wine and heather. Medium finish. Moderately full bodied and creamy. Solid.

750, corked and baled. Starting to think this whole series will be consistently great to amazing. Pours black with a sudsy dark tan head and plenty of webby lace. Big sweet chocolate and vanilla nose. Creamy medium body with very soft carb, goes a little watery in spots actually. Chocolate, vanilla, light bourbon, very soft woody notes in the background. Really a nice BP.

PhillyCraft (7999) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 4, 2013
On tap at Bottle Bar, pours pitch black with small white head, wasn’t lasting. Aromas of roast, light chocolate, hops. Taste of plum and other dark fruits, wood, roasted malts, bourbon and a fair amount of hops. Finishes a little bitter and def warming in the body.
