750, corked and baled. Starting to think this whole series will be consistently great to amazing. Pours black with a sudsy dark tan head and plenty of webby lace. Big sweet chocolate and vanilla nose. Creamy medium body with very soft carb, goes a little watery in spots actually. Chocolate, vanilla, light bourbon, very soft woody notes in the background. Really a nice BP. Sledutah (7976) - Utah, USA - JAN 28, 2013
750ml c&c bottle from the brewery BMan1113VR (7930) - Los Angeles, California, USA - APR 28, 2013
Appearance: Pours dark brown with a big foamy tan head and lots of sticky lacing
Aroma: Roasted malts, dark bitter chocolate, bourbon and vanilla
Taste: Roasted malts, bourbon, vanilla with a bitter pine finish
Very nice and smooth.
Bottle (Bottled on 12/04/12). Pours with a black hued body with a large brown head. Good retention and lace. Aromas are of roasty, dark fruit esters (plum, dates), light licorice, deep chocolate, dusty wood, light oak, minimal bourbon, vanilla. More oak than bourbon. Flavors are oaky, licorice, under ripe plums, roasty tobacco, ashy roast, moderately bready malt. Barrel character is low for a bourbon barrel aged baltic porter. Very high carbonation, medium to full bodied, warming. Ernest (7888) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - MAR 3, 2013
Head is initially large, frothy, brown, mostly lasting.
Body is black.
Aroma is moderately malty (horse feed, wort, cereal, caramel, chocolate syrup), with a note of vanilla.
Flavor is heavily sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter.
Finish is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter, slightly unclean, slightly husky.
Medium to full body, creamy/syrupy texture, soft carbonation, moderately alcoholic.
Really hard to get past the terrible malt...very raw/worty/vegetal. There are some nice elements behind that struggling for your attention, but they can’t compete. Almost drinkable in the mouth, but again the aftertaste reminds you of the dirty/clunky malt. A nice idea, but poorly executed. blankboy (7865) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - OCT 7, 2015
[Bottle (750ml) shared with HogTownHarry, jercraigs & mabel -- c/o j&m] Pours a deep dark amber-brown with a huge lasting frothy beige head and some lacing on the glass. Aroma of chocolate, lightly roasted malt, yeast, light hops and some breadiness. Sweet, malty flavour along with light hops, some herbs and chocolate. Average to medium bodied. Pretty good.

Tap at Baileys Taproom, Portland. Colour is black with small slightly brownish white head. Aromas and flavours: Coffee, dark chocolate, some sweetness and roasted malts. Very nice. larsga (7675) - Oslo, NORWAY - DEC 17, 2014
Big brown head. Opaque black body goes deep dark red at edge. Deep
chocolatey earthy aroma with roasty toffee notes. Sweetish faintly
acidic taste of earthy chocolate with funky pine needle notes.
Mid-to-full body. Mild, slightly flat, mealy mouthfeel. Sweetish
earthy mineraly dark chocolate aftertaste with burnt cocos notes.
Nice, drinkable, and full of flavour. Complex. (0.75l bottle from
wine monopoly Vika, Oslo.) CaptainCougar (7634) - Columbia, Maryland, USA - JAN 25, 2013
75cl bottle: pours a mostly opaque black with dark ruby mahogany edges and a large creamy beige froth of head that leaves fine lacing behind as it subsides. Has a sweet dark caramel and molasses nose with hints of smoke and chocolate. Starts with good fullness and fine carbonation with sweet dark caramel and chocolate malts, notes of plums and a subtle roastiness and mild noble hop bitterness before a drier smooth semi-sweet finish. Very true to style, complex and certainly drinkable.
