Set your senses ablaze with Tinder, a smoldering Rauchbier that kindles moderately malty sweetness and robust smokiness. Brewed with Bamberg beechwood-smoked malt, this medium-bodied lager ignites distinct campfire smoke flavors and aroma.

Pours clear copper with a thick and fairly persistent buff head. Aroma offers smoky wood - beech or hickory, probably the former from the description - plus roast malt and a little honey sweetness. Flavor presents smoky, sweet, barbecue-ish, and subtle woody and cinnamon tones. Mouthfeel delivers decent body and fair fizz. Enjoy, but try not to get smoked.

It is like fireplace in a bottle. The smokiness seemed very authentic, but there wasn’t much more to compliment it... was too over the top for me, but not the worst I’ve ever had..

muzzlehatch (4950) - Beloit, Wisconsin, USA - OCT 25, 2016
750 ml bottle from Sonoma Cellars in Delavan, WI, served a little below cellar temp from a Maudite snifter. Deep amber, hazy-cloudy almost to the point of opacity, with a smallish creamy white head that lasts the duration, leaving thick lacing...light smoky-meaty nose with a bit of baked apple - applewood-smoked bacon, perhaps?, along with some hints of thyme and oregano, a general herbal undercurrent, not a huge explosive Schlenkerla-type nose but quite lovely in it’s more modest way...body is pretty sweet, sugary even at first, though thankfully the toasty-smoky malts do come in, dry it out and give it at least a little finishing bitterness...there’s an odd funkiness in the yeast around the middle which I find distracting though not quite offputting, and this dissipates a bit after some minutes...reasonably full, moderate tingly carbonation. Overall pretty solid.

Svesse (8573) - Hässelby, SWEDEN - SEP 25, 2016
(Bottle) Hazy amber colour with frothy, off-white head, leaving traces of lacing. Malty, smoky nose with smoked ham, rye bread, orange peel, apricots and dried fruit. Malty, slightly smoky taste with notes of crisp-bread, apricots, dried fruit, orange peel, balanced flavours of smoke and a gentle spicy, orangey bitterness in the finish. Medium body, with a certain sweetness. Many brewers tend to kill their smoked beers with as much smoke as possible, so it was really nice to find this fine example of a tasty, well balanced and harmonious smoked lager. Nice one.

Bomber shared with Jacob.

Dark brown pour, decent head. Sweet smoky aroma. This one has the misfortune to follow a bottle of the lovely Aecht Schlenkerla Helles Lagerbier, which is far drier and a bit more subtle. The beer is overpowering with the smoke, but not nearly the gem that the Helles was. This one is sweet and sticky by comparison; the chewy molasses sweetness just doesn’t work with the smoke; it’s like maple syrup on smoked bacon. Not my thing. Not something I’d repeat.

deyholla (11481) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - JUN 9, 2016
Bottle. Pours a near clear amber with an orange hue and a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a real bacon smoke note with some sweet grains and bread supporting. Flavor has lots of sweet smoke with sweet grains and a touch of caramel.

Ar- sweet malt is joined by a light smoke aroma. No hop aroma Ap- pours a clear light Amber with and off white head Fl- very similar to the nose, sweet malts and a slight smoked flavor, almost think of sweetened smoked ham. Nice subtle bitterness on the aftertaste, not really a hop bitter though. Mf- well carbonated, slightly oily, Ov- I like this more than I thought I would. Honestly, I'd like a touch more smoke, and carbonation. Very nice though. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

750mL Bottle. Poured slightly cloudy medium orange with a short, but well-retained toasted beige head. The aroma picked up sweet biscuity and nutty malts gently accented by vanilla beans and campfire smoke.. very soft and well-rounded.. nice! The flavor found similar, with a touch more assertiveness from the smoke.. very sweet and nutty on the back. tangy and dry on the finish.. tasty. Medium-bodied with just the right (low-ish) carbonation.. well-balanced with good transitions.. well done!
