Pours a dull, clear golden color with an eggshell colored head. Head retention is excellent. A battle of pine and citrus in the bouquet. Grapefruit breaks through late. A nearly perfect mouthfeel that makes this IPA so very drinkable. Sweet grapefruit and a note of tangerine in the impressive flavor. Excellent IPA. Well done, Salt Lake City! jflopsu (1617) - New Jersey, USA - MAR 29, 2013
Very light orange in color. So much so that it appears to be a light ale. Little white head. A strong hop aroma. A citrusy hops but a light flavor. gsmitty80 (2130) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - MAR 26, 2013
Nice offering but not as robust as some of their beers. Good hop flavor but it left a little bit of bitterness which wasn’t enjoyable. tightslice (1313) - Redwood City, California, USA - MAR 24, 2013
I was more impressed with the branding / packaging from the Uinta Hop Notch IPA than with the taste. I found it unbalanced (lack of decent maltiness) and overly bitter (which I actually typically enjoy). Can we add an "eh" category? pinkie (470) - New York, USA - MAR 24, 2013
Thanks to Douglas88 for the beautiful bottle from Utah. Pours a true amber with an orange tint and slight haze. What a looker this beer is with a thick head of foam that slowly fell to to some chunky lace and nice legs too. Nose is grapefruit, pine and grass. A great big whiff of bread but then the malt disappears for a minute behind some herbal and grassy dank. Malt presence in the nose is ultimately very soft, sweet caramel and cookie. Taste is delightful with ample malts, lots of oily piney hops, a little bit of sour grapefruit. This beer was like silk on the palate. Some said watery and I disagree. The malt was cultivated to perfection underneath the hops bitter and leaned into the dry finish with a sweetness on the back that was supple and full. Bitterness fades fast in the aftertaste as this one leaves smooth and the definition of dry. Hop Notch is top notch.

UPDATED: MAR 28, 2013 Poured from bottle into snifter, clear golden color with healthy head. Smells quite flowery like a farmhouse saison, yet still very hoppy. Reminiscent of SN’s Hoptimum.

ADDITIONAL: Having some more tonight, and damn...I really like the nose on this. It’s growing on me quickly even more so I had to bump the rating a little. baraciisch (3239) - California, USA - MAR 22, 2013
Orange in color, nice citrus hop nose.... Flavor is light malts, with prevalent citrus hop character, fairly dry... Solid beer

Pours a dark golden color with a off white head with nice lacing. Aroma is tropical fruits and a really sweet malt backbone. Taste is grapefruit and mango, strong caramel backbone that helps balances out the bitter grapefruit taste, then it goes back to a lingering bitter finish. Solid IPA . Bottle from Total Wine in Redondo Beach. Orange pour. Quickly diminishing white head. Aroma immediately after pour was a fresh citrus. A minute later the citrus was gone and aroma consisted of mowed grass and sweet malt. Taste is lemon and sweet malt. Finish is bitter. Body is medium and mouthfeel is slightly sticky. Pours a clear golden with slight tint of orange and one finger of head that sticks around a bit. Mouth-watering hoppy smells of fresh-cut grass and piney woods with a hint of citrus and light malt. Intense flavors of dank, grassy hops that approaches an oniony or garlicy character, but falls just short of that. Sweet from the begining, but also very bitter the whole time, so it finally finishes somewhat dry after the long bitter finish. Great American IPA. Just a great beer.
