Draft at Trinity Brass Tap. Pours a dark brownish black with a dark ruby hue along the edges. Small tan blanket of a head along the top with a sudsy sheet of lacing along the glass. Roasted malt notes in the aroma. Similar flavor with a touch of coffee and tobacco in the finish. Slight bitterness on the tail end. Bottle, pours dark, tan head, chocolate nose, sweet, finishes nice chocolate as well. Beerenberger (1605) - Fischer, Texas, USA - MAY 8, 2014
Thanks to Ken for sharing. The nose is made up of roasted malts with undertones of chocolate. Baba pours a brownish-black sporting ruby highlights and a generous foamy tan head and spotty lacing. The palate is malt foreard with roasted malts with hints of coffee and chocolate. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Overall, very enjoyable and sessionable brew. Would drink again. Can but doesn’t have metallic flavor. Bit creamier than typical black lager. No complaints but not wonderful. Weezel (272) - Florida, USA - APR 28, 2014
Smells like a Guinness from the tap with sweet dark malts and a hint of milk chocolate. The taste is super smooth with a wash dark roast coffee, deep malt sweetness, a touch of spicy hops and cola like finish. Really good. Could drink these all day.

12oz pour from ABC on Apalachee. Near black pour with thin tan head. Aroma is roasted dark malt, light smoke, cocoa. Tastes are roasty, dark chocolate, smoke, vanilla. Little tinny. Fairly drinkable. czar (9338) - Québec, Quebec, CANADA - APR 23, 2014
pours clear medium dark brown reddish with a small creamy light beige-orange head, some retention and lacing. deep roasted malts, some burnt malts, chocolate, sprucey with a hint of pine and maple, but also herbal-grassy, chalky, dry molasses - bit of residual iron. moderate carbonation, light body - doesn’t feel too watery for its abv, balanced and dry herbal-grassy-spicy-peppery finish. shy lagering notes that lie underneath burnt notes. still nice. On tap at Anthill Pub in Irvine, CA. Definitely black with a light tan head. Good carbonation keeps it feeling fuller than the thin body would indicate. Really nice dark roasted malt flavor with a light cocoa flavor. Leaves a dry slightly woody taste behind. Very nice, very sessionable. kidmartinek (5001) - austin, Texas, USA - APR 21, 2014
UPDATED: MAY 4, 2014 Pretty much black with a nice foamy tan head with longevity. Aroma is rich, dark roasted barley. Flavor is rich dark roasted barley as well but with enough balancing bitterness to not make this beer too sweet. Coffee and chocolate undertones. Cool on the palate and drinks more like an ale. Just good. No reason not to make this a goto front porch sitter. Its what shiner black tried to be. Even better its lower abv than light macros. jbruner (5121) - Marietta, Georgia, USA - APR 18, 2014
Bottle sampled at Classic City Brew Fest 2014. Pours a translucent brownish black with fluffy tan head. Aroma is done dark roast with underlying soy and fruity lager esters. Taste is a hint sweeter with a dirty back end. Meh.
