Poured from bottle. Nice molasses and burnt malt aroma. Solid black with a bit of head. I taste chocolate and roasted malt with some lager hops. Low carbonation makes this ridiculously easy to drink. Good, but could use flavor and body.

Sampled at AC Beerfest (2014). Poured a dark brown/almost black color with a small foamy tan head. Aroma of smoke, roasted malt, and caramel. Taste is on the sweet side. Roasted malt, sugar, sweet chocolate, caramel, and smoke.

6 pack of cans best before August 24, 2014. Pours a nice deep, dark hue. Pitch black is obviously an exaggeration, but its well within style. This smells like its gonna be a solid shwarzbier. Its roasty, a little nutty with mild hints at toffee and latte and a nice crispness. The mouthfeel is lighter, but Baba is still complex and flavorful. Uinta has a knack for making these 4% abv beers really satisfying. The flavor is nutty, with hints at cacao, instant coffee, wafers, toffee and an earthy, but milky finish. I poured this guy into a goblet for a better tasting experience, but I totally want to put a coozie on one of these bad boys and sip it on a warm spring day. Very drinkable, very clean. The only shortcoming here at all is that after a full glass, it does seem a little waterier than a top notch black lager. Still, theyve done a stand up job with this to comply with the crazy Utah laws.

Pours very dark. Nice smokey taste but not overwhelming. Very satisfying black lager.

(Bottle) Almost black colour with hints of ruby when seen through light. Frothy beige head. Malty, roasted nose with notes of coffee, black rye bread, liquorice, dark chocolate and hints of raisins. Malty, roasted taste with coffee, dark chocolate, black rye bread, liquorice, hints of burnt sugar and a touch of orange peel in the finish. Balanced bitterness. Medium body, with a touch of sweetness, but mainly dry. Tasty, well balanced and highly drinkable. Nice one.

For a black LAGER its pretty good! Did you know that NB makes La Folie out of a black lager that taste very similar to this one? Notes of roasty and sweet with a nice light body. Its not overly complicated but just flavorful. I could drink this on a chilly morning on a beach in Hawaii.

12 oz bottle. Pours black with a one finger creamy chocolate colored head that leaves a lot of sticky lacing. Aroma of bittersweet chocolate, dark roast coffee, earthy hops, hint of vanilla. Taste is roasty malt, bittersweet chocolate, roasted coffee, hint of caramel. Dry finish of cocoa and roasted malts. Medium body, slightly creamy, slightly oily texture, average carbonation. Excellent beer here. Much bigger taste than expected.

355ml can. Much fuller bodied than the norm, more dark fruitiness as well. But its good for what it is, not a schwarzbier.
