Bottle pours gold in color with one finger of off-white head. Aroma is heavy in bananas and dough with hints of honey and clove. Flavor is essentially the same with a slight vegetal finish and a touch of alc. Overall mouthfeel is medium and creamy. Who would’ve thought Utah would ever turn out a decent belgian ale?

hellbilly (3247) - scottsdale über alles, Arizona, USA - AUG 30, 2009
clear brilliant yellow pour with a slight golden hue and off white head. it smells surprisingly good... orange, honey, yeast, pear, straw, pepper and grass. the palate is a bit on the sweet side but it does finish crisp and dry with a faint bitterness. the flavor shares the characteristics from the aroma yet adds some clove-y spice, coriander-like earthiness and a little bit of banana. medium bodied, creamy yet slightly bitter and very drinkable.6/3/6/3/13/3.1

Ratman197 (15212) - Arvada, Colorado, USA - AUG 30, 2009
Bottle poured a hazy golden amber with a lasting off white head. Aromas of strae, yeast, pear, light pineapple and light spice. Palate was light bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Flavors of bread, light spice and a hint of fruittiness with a smooth dry finish.

GreatLibations (1854) - Last Supper, Arizona, USA - AUG 23, 2009
Pours golden yellow w/ a good head. Strong aromas of grilled, smoky bananas. Full nectar w/mellow residual effers. Soft and almost luscious on the tongue. A high density malty sweet backbone allows a touch of acidity to perform. Big tropicals, smoke, and mild medicinals. The finish is long and sweet. Very stong on flavor w/ no balance.

Bottle: Full strength, not Utah weakness. Yellow-gold with no head. Ripe bananas, yeasty aroma and a little sweet caramel. Flavor isn’t too bad. Not to much over the top yeast flavor. Good carbonation and kind of a celery finish. Thanks BuckeyeBoy.

Bottle at the Brickskeller in DC. Hazy golden color with a white head. Aroma is pale malt, yeast, and banana/clove. Flavor more of the same, somewhat sweet, with a hint of Belgian yeast. Medium-bodied and pretty average on the palate.

UPDATED: OCT 25, 2012
Location: Updating with a 12 oz bottle from State Line, 10/25/12

Aroma: The nose has some Belgian yeast, spice, floral notes, and a little bit of banana
Appearance: It pours a cloudy golden color with a lasting white head and fairly heavy lace
Flavor: The taste is medium sweet, with some balancing spice, and a light hop presence
Palate: The body is medium, it has a tingly mouthfeel, and a fairly sticky finish to it
Overall Impression: I think I enjoyed this one more the second time around. It is a little too sticky sweet, and maybe even a little cloying, but it isn’t a bad beer at all. Also, 3+ years later I’ve now had quite a few beers from the state of Utah (28 ratings, and they have all been either Uinta or Epic, so I know Utah has at least 2 breweries!)
Updated Rating (2012) - 3.4: 7/4/6/3/14

Location: 12 oz bottle from Brickskeller, 7/31/09

Aroma: Yeasty, banana, clove
Appearance: Hazy golden color, thin white head
Flavor: Mostly sweet and yeasty, bit of balance there too
Palate: Light to medium in body, dry finish, decent mouthfeel
Overall Impression: I believe this to me my first beer from Utah. Who knew they made beer in Utah? This one is alright, drinkable, but not highly memorable.
Original Rating (2009) - 3.2: 7/3/6/3/13
