3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle. The pour was a murky medium amber brown with an average sized (1-2 finger) creamy white head that was fully diminishing but left behind some nice spotty residue which allowed for some good lacing that was left sticking to the glass.
The aroma was very light of a toasted biscuit malt and a sweet doughy yeast with notes of nutmeg, cinnamon and pumpkin.
It tasted mildly sweet with just a hint of cinnamon and brown sugar in the beginning and finished mildly bitter with a note of nutmeg and a pumpkin presence at the end. The flavor lasted an average duration after the swallow, then faded quickly.
Mouthfeel was light to medium in body and watery yet slightly dry in texture with a prickly carbonation.
Overall a refreshingly mild brew with a nice dose of flavor that is not overdone.
12 ounce bottle into pint glass, best before 1/21/2018. Pours slightly hazy golden orange/amber color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and fluffy off white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, clove, brown sugar, bread dough, toasted biscuit, light caramel, and herbal/toasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of pumpkin, spices, and bready malt notes; with solid strength. Taste of big pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, clove, brown sugar, bread dough, toasted biscuit, light caramel, and herbal/toasted earthiness. Mild herbal/spice bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, clove, brown sugar, bread dough, toasted biscuit, light caramel, and herbal/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of pumpkin, spices, and bready malt flavors; with a nice malt/bitter/spiciness balance; and zero cloying/astringent flavors after the finish. Slightly increasing dryness from bitter/spiciness. Medium carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready/grainy, and slightly sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 4%. Overall this is a very good pumpkin ale. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of pumpkin, spices, and bready malt flavors; very smooth and pretty refreshing to drink; with the mildy bitter/drying finish. Very flavorful and never watery feeling for the ABV. Nice authentic pumpkin fruit presence, with great spice balance and bready malt backbone. Nothing overdone or feels out of place. A very enjoyable offering and great style example. LaserDave (34) - - DEC 3, 2017
Harvest the flavors of fall with a bottle opener and a stroll down the craft-brewed beer aisle. Four+ Punk’n Ale is the pick of the crop with notes of roasted pumpkin and seasonal spices. Savory. Crisp. The sweetness is in the celebration, not on the palate.

Bottle in Seattle. Soft foam, amber orange and clear. Weak malty pumpkin pie spice. A bit fizzy and cool, bitter and burnt grain. Not a big fan. anders37 (27621) - Malmö, SWEDEN - MAY 2, 2017

Poured from a regular bottle into a pint glass to drink. The beer had a mostly clear deep amber color with a large foamy white head with long retention and average cling and lacing. Its aroma featured a blend of malt and spices, including nutmeg, brown sugar, and of course pumpkin. The taste was mostly sweet and malty with a bit of nutmeg, caramel, and spice, but was a touch sour and not well developed. The body was fairly light and wet with a touch of cream and average to low carbonation. Johnstledger8 (1409) - Dublin, IRELAND - NOV 26, 2016
