3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: OCT 23, 2013 It’s fine. that about sums it up. It is sort of like an anemic amber ale- pours that color with a bit of lacing on top. the pumpkin is there but in a subtle way- too subtle I would say. Not much (any) hoppiness to it but a sweetness and warmth from the spices. quite light on the palate. I guess I expect a fall beer to be a bit more substantial- in a warm you from the inside-out kind of way. this is really more like a summer ale with a tiny hint of pumkin. like the brewer was told to add pumpkin, but they always chose the desert at thankgiving that wasn’t pumpkin pie.
for what it’s worth.....tried it a second time and was much more appreciative of the subtleties. definitely better than I remember.

Poured from a regular bottle into a pint glass to drink. The beer had a mostly clear deep amber color with a large foamy white head with long retention and average cling and lacing. Its aroma featured a blend of malt and spices, including nutmeg, brown sugar, and of course pumpkin. The taste was mostly sweet and malty with a bit of nutmeg, caramel, and spice, but was a touch sour and not well developed. The body was fairly light and wet with a touch of cream and average to low carbonation.
