[Bottle] Pours a clear deep coppery brown with a smallish tan head. Aroma is malty and caramelly with a touch of sherry-like oxidation. Flavor is quite caramelly, rich, slightly smoky, and just a hint of tartness from the wheat. I am quite surprised by this. I wasn’t expecting much, but it’s actually quite nice. Thanks to Skyview. Deep amber pour with a small foamy off white head. Malt and a touch of carrot on the nose. Very malty flavor with what seems to be a touch of grain alcohol. Some nuttiness as well. badgerben (5187) - Blaine, Minnesota, USA - MAR 12, 2009
Courtesy of Skyview. Dark brown color with a medium head. Sweet malt and light grain aroma. Similar taste. A bit of soy sauce coming out. Caramel and toasted malt as well. Dry, grainy finish. Not bad at all. Ughsmash (7508) - Pewaukee, Wisconsin, USA - MAY 9, 2008
Thanks to Bob for the bottle! Poured clear, deeper reddish-brown with a short cap of beige head. The aroma picked up sweeter, lightly-smoked caramel and chocolate with dried raisins and grassy notes.. interesting. The flavor had more of the raisins and caramel with a dry herbal accent.. the sweeter, toasty finish showed some oxidation. Dry, light-medium bodied, and grainy on the palate with a little tackiness on the finish.. all in all a decent brew.

Picked up a six-pack at Blue Max in Burnsville, Minnesota. Pours a clear dark copper amber brew with a fast dissolving off-white head that leaves behind a thin off-white ring. Aroma multi-grain caramel malt, some roasted nuts, with some tart pear character. Taste is medium bodied, some carbonation with flavors of caramel malt a touch of toffee, dark pitted fruits and some grassy hops. Finish is a bit metallic, some tart fruit and malt aftertaste. This may be an old bottle. detroiter (958) - Euphoria, Minnesota, USA - JAN 15, 2007
Pours a nice clear brown, topped by an inch or so of frothy cream colored foam. Unfortunately no lacing. Bland generic nondescript aroma.
It starts out with an exceptionally mild caramel malt, just a bit nutty, with a pronounced low budget lager taste to it. But then an interesting tart and almost fuity taste dominates the finish. And the aftertaste. The tartness saved it from blandness, but the mildness prevented it from being interesting. Oh so close to being something quite good.
Still, a drinkable beer. Tasty enough, refreshing, well carbonated, smooth and on the light side for body. Nuffield (4171) - Roseville, Minnesota, USA - AUG 18, 2006
Nice dark color, with notable caramel and some nuttiness, but also quite flat despite the carbonation and thoroughly dull. Kevin (2199) - Montana, USA - AUG 9, 2006
pours a dark red brown with a thin gray head. fruity cherry nose. bland inoffensive flavor of slight nut maltiness and a bit of aluminum. just amazingly bland. LibraryBrewer (50) - Goodridge, Minnesota, USA - JUN 7, 2006
