330ml pull-tab bottle bought at Kijizakura Shoten's booth during HKTDC Food Expo 2017 at HKCEC in Wanchai.
Looks: Clear golden yellow colour with a thick ring of dirt-like yeast sediments; Half finger head with residual soapy white foam which fades in 40 seconds; Fair sticky lacing with notable slight carbonation.
Aroma: Very fragrant malt, with strong banana, vanilla, fair wheaty tartness, bubblegum, cream, floral, sugar, cloves, spice, dough, strong yeast, lemon and grass.
Taste: Mid to light sweet malt, with moderate wheaty tartness,
strong banana, strong fruity ester, metallic, floral, sugar, woody spices, cloves, biscuits, yeast, lemon, medium bitter hops and grass.
Body: Mid to light body. Fairly slick palate.
Mouth Feel: Good maltyness in a slightly thinned but smooth background. Wheaty tartness is more prominent than the Blanche. Rich banana and yellow fruit esters. Light flowery with medium sweetness. Clovey and spicy, yeasty with vibrant lemon to ground. Very good!
Hoppiness: Floral, spice, lemon and grass in nose, same in taste plus strong woody spices; Bitterness is quite strong for a lasting, mid to high astringent sweet-bitter wheaty finish.
After Taste: Fairly dry. Fruity spicy and quite bitter to mouth.
Comments: This is definitely a Hefeweizen and thank goodness the yeast pour brings out a whole lot more with strong but pleasant banana / fruity ester and clovey characters throughout, and good hoppiness is abundant. It belongs to the top Hefeweiss and what a joy to have!
This beer is just fine, not very true to style imo because it lacks the developed yeastiness I’d hope for from the style and is more like an American wheat beer but hey, it’s another Kristallweizen. jinroh (2660) - ESTONIA - OCT 7, 2016
Tap at a sake place in Shinbashi, Tokyo. Poured cloudy willow, decent white head. Deep yeast spices complete with banana in the nose, quite sturdy feel to it. Bottle from Daiei. Light bubblegum and banana notes with a touch of clove. Slightly watery for the style with maybe a touch too much carbonation. Sweet with some light tang towards the finish. Refreshing, but thin.

Bottle from Top World Supermarket. Solid banana nose, sweetish with some bubble gum notes. Cloudy light, murky yellow, and not much head (for a weizen). Well-rounded wheaty character (which falls off too quickly) , tangy, lightly sweet, and very mild hopping in mid and final. Thin-medium body, with just a touch of astringency. Good enough. Pours a hazy dark yellow with quickly disappearing white head. Aroma smells faintly of wheat, but lacks yeast. Taste is wheat with a hint of banana. Very nice mouth feel, and a very well balanced beer!
