Axe Handle Pale Ale is a “West-coast” pale ale. Hopped during the boil and “dry hopped” after fermentation, the flavor and aroma come from the Cascade hops. This ale finishes with a firm bitterness and malt aftertaste.

Sample at the brewpub. The beer is a hazy dark orange color with a medium off-white head that dissipates steadily. Rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of citrusy hops and grainy malt. Medium body with flavors of citrus, piney hops and malt. The finish is grapefruit and hops with a moderately bitter aftertaste. Above average overall.

on tap-pours an off white head with trailing lace and gold color. Aroma is pine/lemon-citrus, light/medium malt. Taste is pine/lemon-citrus/pineapple, light/medium malt. Good carbonation, good drinking. Great session PA.

rosenbergh (11957) - Tampere, FINLAND - SEP 15, 2013
Draught at the Uncle Billy's Brew & Que, Austin, TX. Cloudy golden colour with a small white head. Sweet and fruity hoppy aroma. The flavour is sweet fruity hops, mild bitterness and sweet malt. Maybe a bit too sweet to be really tasty. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draft... Hazy golden ale with a small, creamy, white head. Decent retention. The bouquet offers pale grains and those signature Simcoe, earthy, cat-pissy aromatics. Medium to full-bodied with a creamy mouthfeel and modest carbonation. Nice earthy hops dominate the flavor, but a firm malt backbone lends plenty of support. Finishes crisp with lingering bitterness.

Half pint at the Lake Travis location. Had this immediately after having a bite of bbq with jabanero sauce so who knows? Clear and golden with a small off white head. Soft hops and heavier malts define this. Floral hops and citrus. Fruit comes out more as it warms (or as the sauce clears). This is dry and fairly bitter.

AmEricanbrew (7080) - Same Trailer, Different Park, Louisiana, USA - JUL 22, 2010
Clear amber color/ lasting beige head. Big cat spray, skunky, spicy hop aromas. smooth medium body. Nice floral, pine sap. spicy hop flavors on a solid caramel sweet base. good Pale.
