Sample at the brewpub. Pours flat black with a medium tan head that burns away steadily. Rings of lacing stick to the glass. Aroma of roasted coffee and chocolate. Medium to full body with a nice roasted character, and flavors of malt, coffee and dark chocolate. The finish is chocolatey with mild hops and coffee left over. Pretty good Stout overall. Yummy. This beer was pretty damn good if you like coffee and chocolate. Rich coffee nose right up front...and it’s in the flavor as well. Finishes with a nice bitterness. GeneralGao (3614) - Iowa City, Iowa, USA - DEC 11, 2008
Draft at the brewpub. Poured an opaque black color with a brown head. The aroma was equal parts, coffee, toffee, and chocolate. Medium to full bodied. Semi sweet up front with mild roasty bitterness at the end. Tasted of roasted nuts, toffee, and roasty coffee. Nice. pintsize (1042) - Austin, Texas, USA - FEB 1, 2008

Black body with a nice creamy beige head and a thick blanket-like lacing. Has some espresso flavor mixed in nicely with the malt. Nice, smooth creamy palate. Very drinkable! Smell is a bit subtle overall - light roasted malt and coffee smell. Good brew!
GABF. Decent black pour with tan head. Lots of coffee on the aromas. Flavors fell off a bit. Still mocha touches in there. NIce finish. jeg (114) - Austin, Texas, USA - SEP 1, 2007
Quite nice, especially for a stout that went down outside on a hot late summer night. Tastes of coffee and dark chocolate, very creamy. fly (1486) - austin, Tejas, Texas, USA - AUG 27, 2007
Maybe I shouldn’t try a stout in summer. But waiting for a proper ocassion has never been one of my strengths. Coffee right out of the gate, can’t miss it. Nice roasty stout. Medium body. Pretty decent all in all, but will look foward to having again either when things cool down of they turn the AC to ice formatio cycle. lb4lb (2587) - Austin, Texas, USA - AUG 10, 2007
UPDATED: OCT 28, 2007 Had just a sampler of this and it was really good. Wasn’t listed on the menu or labeled on the tap handle, but I asked the Server what the seasonal beer was, and this was it. Poured a rich black, with creamy tan head that lasted a bit. Smell was rich roasty and big on coffee, and taste was really rich with a creamy mouthfeel, and really hearty strong espresso flavor with a nice smooth finish and aftertaste. I would recommend trying this and would like to get a full pint again.
