Black pour with a tan head and lace. Hinto smoke and toasted malt. Large smoke, toasted malt, and a good malt like bitter finish. Medium bodied but foamy. Decent drinker mmmbeer (1428) - Austin, Texas, USA - MAR 2, 2012
Pint glass at the lake location- served a solid black color, minimal lacing from the light brown head. Aroma of smoke and more smoke. Hits the mouth with a light medium body, malt was slightly charred, middle holds up well, finish has an ever so slight touch of chocolate. It’ll do. On tap at the Uncle Billy’s location at Lake Travis.
The beer pours a dark brown to black color with a tan head. The aroma is heavy on the chocolate and ash notes, with the chocolate being the most dominant.
The flavor has a few additional notes. I get a lot of charred malt notes, as well as some nice meaty smoke and some milk chocolate. The chocolate and burnt/smoke notes go very well together.
Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.
A very nice smoked beer, one I definitely would like to try again. Strykzone (7586) - Wood River, Illinois, USA - DEC 31, 2011
Half pint at the Lake ateavis location. Almost black with a bit of red. A thin beige head. I smell more chocolate than smoke but both are present. It is a light nose. First taste is meaty smoke with some hop notes in the background. Some cocoa is tasted and it is smooth and creamy. They take center stage and roasted notes follow. The hops add a nice offset. This is tasty and smooth. jkwalking05 (4743) - Arlington, Texas, USA - MAY 5, 2010
Deep brown with a decent sized off-white head. Aroma is of beef jerky, smoke, and roasted malts. Taste is of roasted malts, smoke, chocolate and coffee.

(Growler, courtesy of mar) Pours a brown body with a moderate cream head. Aroma of smoke, beef jerky, leather, and roastiness. Flavor of smoke (lots!) and roasted malt with a bitter finish. SphinxTX (2875) - Mata Gorda, Texas, USA - DEC 1, 2009
Bottle thanks to Mar. Pours a dark brown/black with tan head. Aroma is very nice, some dark roasted malt and smokiness. Flavor has a nice smokiness to it as well and malt. Mouth feel is medium body with high carbonation. Overall, a very nicely made smoked beer...I enjoyed! travita (5006) - Dallas, Texas, USA - NOV 11, 2009
Grolwer thanks to mar. The look is brown in color, dark, and has an off white head. The smell is smoke, malts, roast, cigarttes, and good. The taste is malts, bbq, roast, and smoke. angrypirate06 (1388) - Texas, USA - NOV 4, 2009
Growler thanks to mar’s thick black pole. Black pour, aroma is BBQ, smoke, jerky. Flavor is jerky, soy, BBQ, slight nuttiness. Mouthfeel is lacking though. Cavie (4775) - Arlington, Texas, USA - OCT 31, 2009
Growler courtesy of mar. Dark red pour. Huge hickory smoke smell. Like smoked turkey. Wow that’s a lot of smoke. Taste is smoky but nothing like the scent. Finish is easy drinking. Not bad at all. Who knew what thick black goodness that mar had hiding?
