12th May 2012
On tap at Copenhagen Beer Celebration.
Dark brown beer, opaque. A few lonely tan bubbles. Palate is dry and a little crisp. Dry rich woody notes - no oaky sweetness though. Rich malt. The alcohol is obvious in as much as it is drying as well as warm. All leads to a warm dry finish. An intriguing beer. Although warm it’s doesn’t taste anything like 14.5%. Just a little too dry.

On tap @ Copenhagen Beer Celebration. Aged on what? Gotta try this! :-) Pours a dark mahogany brown body with a small off-white head. Aroma is wood, soy, dark malts, bourbon, cognac, dried dark fruits, hints of booze and caramel. Very complex and nice. Taste is licorice, dark fruits, cognac, wood and hints of booze, vanilla, burnt caramel and salmiac. Smooth, silky mouthfeel. Incredibly nice ASA, and a fascinating creation from Uncommon Brewers. One of the best surprises at CBC for me. :-)

Papsoe (25059) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - MAY 19, 2012
On tap. Cloudy opaque dark brown with absolutely no head. Fairly subtle aroma, a little overripe fruit and booze. Huge body, low carbonation, plenty of overripe fruit accents, oxidized, herbal and medicinal with a burning alcohol in the finish. A beer that really unfolds from aroma to flavour. Clearly the best offering I’ve had from Uncommon so far. 120512
