Whisky aroma. Dark coloured a little hazy in appearance very strong in alcohol and hoppy with a hint of dryness in a woody and extremely bitter malt finish.
W. T. F. They called this an ESB, but I don’t know how that’s at all within the realm of possibility. This bruiser pours very dark brown, almost black, with a medium-sized tan head. The aroma is rather roasty with insane amounts of licorice and intense booze. An ESB, really? The flavor is almost like Sam Adams Triple Bock - I can’t think of anything else to compare it to. Alcohol and licorice dominate the flavor, and it’s hard to get much else from this besides that. Maybe molasses and roast. Full-bodied, syrupy, and boozy with average carbonation. This is really a beer that defies style and ratings. I don’t know what to make of it other than that it’s not very drinkable.
