UPDATED: OCT 17, 2008 (Bottle) Pours hazy dark yellow to light golden orange with a white head. The aroma is yeasty, spicy, fruity and a bit malty with tones of oranges, tangerines, creamy mango, peach, canned pineapple, ripe banana, doughy bread, coriander, ginger, clove, vanilla, cinnamon, fresh herbs, candi sugar, honey, marzipan, smoky/floral incense and light cheesy notes. Complex and well balanced. Like some other Unibroue beer there is something in the spiciness that reminds me of oak. The flavour starts with some candy sweetness but ends on an elegant, light dry note. Light bitter. Good balance between the fruity and spicy tones. A vanilla creaminess lean against fresh tones of apples, pears, mango and sweet oranges. Notes of honey and a rather fat cookie-like maltiness are also present. The mouthfeel is creamy with a perfect, medium carbonation. A light numbing and peppery hint from the alcohol blends well with the lingering citrusy and spicy aftertaste. Medium to full bodied. A bit too much age on this one, but still had a nice nose of fruity influences with a bit of melon and spice. The flavor was quite the same, but with the added touch of oxidation. Mellow on the palate. Ibrew2or3 (8666) - Tempe, Arizona, USA - SEP 27, 2008
Pours clear deep gold with thin white head. The aroma is bold apple cider, sweet malts, smooth spices and faint lemon tartness. The taste starts malty sweet before sweet apples goodness picks up and bleeds into more mildly roasted maltiness and smooth spices. The apple note re-surges into the finish. This has aged wonderfully. gunhaver (1030) - Tampa, Florida, USA - SEP 10, 2008
Bottle, at BA Throwdown #2. Pours a golden yellow color, minimal head and wet lacing. Cider notes in the nose, some honey, sugar, creamy notes of tropical fruit. Full spicy body, yeast, cinnamon, some clove, distant ginger and some apple. Smooth, held up very well, tasty. GeneralGao (3614) - Iowa City, Iowa, USA - SEP 1, 2008
Thanks to iowaherkeye for bringing this bottle to his ’farewell to Iowa’ tasting. Poured a slightly hazy golden color with a white head. I smelled subdued maple syrup and pear. Medium bodied and slightly sweet. I tasted pear, husky grain, toffee, powdered sugar, and clove. Not bad.

Thanks iowaherkeye! Light amber pour with a medium white head. Light cork, apple, and yeast aroma. Flavor is green apple, apricot, pineapple, yeast. Lightly tart dry finish with a touch of belgian yeast sweetness and some booze. This held up really well, and didn’t have a hint of being oxidized. 750mL bottle, sampled at the 1st Annual Shenandoah Beer Throwdown, courtesy of kmweaver. Thanks Ken! This beer was incredibly oxidized. Thats all I really tasted. Maybe some yeastiness as well, but not much of the unibroue house character was left. I must confess, I still have not grown into loving these oxidized messes. wilkie (1208) - Raleigh, North Carolina, USA - JUL 14, 2008
750mL bottle, sampled at the 1st Annual Shenandoah Beer Throwdown, courtesy of puzzl. Thanks, Andy, and once again thanks ken for the preamble. Pours yellow/golden, cloudy, with a white head and lacing. Aroma is dark fruits and yeast. Flavor similar, with candy sugar, sweet, soft finish.
I wrote something else at the bottom that I can’t read! :( Campfire shoulda been bigger! kmweaver (3207) - Petaluma, California, USA - JUL 13, 2008
750mL bottle, sampled at the 1st Annual Shenandoah Beer Throwdown, courtesy of puzzl. Thanks, Andy! Pours a hazy, golden color; thin, off-white head with patchy lacing; decent looking beer. Lots of dried caramel and yeastiness in the aroma; dried fruits, caramelized bananas, and caramelized sugar; a touch watery at the edges. Medium-to-full mouthfeel: lots of dried fruits, dry caramel, and basic citrus upfront; loads of breadiness, dough, and complex yeast character; highly carbonated; quite tasty overall. Plenty of oxidation at this point. Medium finish: dry caramel, breadiness, and brown sugar; soft, dry end. Papsoe (25062) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - APR 10, 2008
(Bottle 75 cl) Courtesy of Maxxdaddy. Slightly hazy golden with a creamy, white head leaving some lacework. Soft aroma of fruit and yeast. Solid body with rich fruity accents and some yeast. Lightly oxidized, but actually the oxidization just rounds the beer off in a pleasant way. Very subdued bitterness. 220308
