Faint aroma that is dominated by some kind of herb - perhaps juniper or ginger. Appears a hazy golden amber with a big off-white head that mostly dissipates. Flavor of pepper and coriander and phenols mostly dominate, though there is a dusty yeast character, and a resurgent herbal flavor - almost certainly ginger - at the finish. Palate is medium-thick but quite effervescent. Overall, a well-crafted brew, but I think that Unibroue’s yeast is too phenolic for my personal tastes.
Bouteille. Nez de levures fruitées (pomme, prune), de marmelade, de levures épicées et d’alcool. Goût qui réchauffe d’alcool et un goût de levures fruitées légèrement acides et sucrées (orange et pomme) et assez épicé (clou de girofle, gingembre, poivre) lors de l’entrée en bouche suivi d’un goût de caramel toffee doux et sucré puis d’un goût légèrement amer de houblon floral et d’une légère aigreur de levures. Wow what a great beer. Shared by my brother-in-law, thanks R. Poured a hazy orange-brown with a some white head. Noses of orange, lemons, mint. Tastes similarly of citrus, a mild minty freshness that didn’t linger, honey and Belgian yeast. Creamy mouthfeel. A very delicious, refreshing, very unique beer. Of course you can’t get it anymore. Slightly hazy copper brown color with a smallish head that dissipates quickly. The aroma is filled with overpowering spices atop a faint brown sugary caramel malt base. The flavor is not a bit different. Medium to thick body with a light to moderate level of carbonation and a sweet spicy mouthfeel. Not bad for a ten year old beer, but too heavy on the spicing for my taste

Bottle (750 ml). Acquired via trade. Clear dark golden with no head and no lacing. Aroma is spicy, sweetness notes, mint, chocolate, cardboard and Madeira. Taste is slightly sweet with mint, fruits, cardboard and chocolate. Medium body. Low carbonation. This beer was supposed to have been well stored but that’s doubtful considering how bad it was. Though a bit off, twas’ still a good brew. The pour was a brilliant orange with soft bubbles and a good ol’ Belgian head. It smelled like spiced orange bread. The taste was oxidated Belgian beer with a finish of old orange soda. Bottle thanks to Keir. Cheers! Nose is light soda, sherry notes, melon, citrus, light yeast. Flavors are mainly the same with a more dark fruit and unripe melon flavor. Very soft carbonation. Not bad but definitely oxidized.
