3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Tried this on tap at the Yard House in Lone Tree, Colorado. Notes of fruit and yeast in the aroma. The flavor is quite interesting, sweeter fruit/malt notes with a nice crisp dry finish.

Bottle. Pours a hazy orange-red. Aroma of blackcurrant and what. Taste is tart and dry. A good beer but nothing too exciting. Not near as good as Unibroue’s other offerings.

750mL bottle. Poured an eerie shade of peachy medium orange with a tall off-white head. The aroma picked up orange peel, vinous notes, and darker, concentrated currant juice.. wheaty notes and a touch of banana-ey yeast around the nose.. very fruity. The flavor found dry, toasted wheat and light bready notes at the core.. tart currants, orange zest, wheat, and banana and peppery yeast around.. dry, tart, quick, fruity finish. Light-medium bodied with too much carbonation on the palate (for my liking).. tangy the whole way through.. decent use of the fruit, but this moved too quickly through the mouth.

Bomber. Pours pinkish orange with a voluminous light pink head that leaves no lacing. Aroma is mostly black currant with faint citrus and wheat notes. One note, but nice. Flavor is more balanced. Lots of black currant, some orange, a bit of clove, coriander, pepper, and wheat. The flavor opens up as the beer warms. Light mouthfeel. Early on, highly effervescent carbonation. The black currant is a nice twist, but there’s not really quite enough else going on with this beer. Enjoyed it though.

Tap at Dexters. Unfiltered orange-red. Thin white head rims the glass. Some dry, mineral pit tastes. Subtle fruity tang. Soft on the palate, medium bodied. Soft berry in the finish, but sort of unpronounced. Enjoyable and easy.

2.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Nothing too special about this except the wacky appearance... I’ve had blackcurrant lambics before, never a regular beer. I’d take the former, really, there wasn’t much beer flavour here, even the Unibroue yeast character was surprisingly muted. Carbonation was quite high. Better than the pomme, and not too sweet. Good.

Pours pink-orange with a pinkish white head. The aroma is wheaty with some coriander and lemongrass. The taste has an up-front cidery acidity, which fades to a spiced, wheaty and yeasty finish with minimal hops. Interesting fruit beer but not going out of the way to be intense or unique.
