Bottled. Apple and dried dark fruits aroma. Cloudy, dark brown, rocky irregular head, few lace. Sweet, apple, light bitter, raisin, plum, light nutty. Not exceptional but certainly yet another good highly drinkable typical Unibroue beer. Don’t they all basically taste the same? mds (2250) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JUL 28, 2005
bottle. deep brown mahogany body with a huge, fluffy off-white head. aroma is malty and yeasty with notes of berries and chocolate. This one is actually quite good compared to the Blonde. Creamy and yeasty body. Heavy on the malt and chocolate flavours. quite flavourful. alcohol is well masked. I enjoyed it. beanmedic (347) - Hamilton, Ontario, CANADA - JUL 11, 2005
341ml bottle. dark murky brown. tan head. taste of fruits, spices, unibroue yeast. very good but the same old unibroue taste. Psylocke (91) - st-constant, Quebec, CANADA - JUN 25, 2005
a good hazelnut taste with a light presance of alcool but its not the best idea to drubk this beer cold i will try too warm it a bit MAP (1133) - Lakewood, Ohio, USA - MAY 23, 2005
As if I hadn’t said this enough int he past few days; Thanks to Boutip for the bottle. Color is almost completely black, with a cream head on top. Aroma is subtle with dark fruits and spice. Mouthfeel is crisp and ends rather viscous. Flavor equally as subtle, and honestly, a bit to tame.

341ml bottle from metro jeanette. pours a lovely hazed dark chestneut color with a good cap that laces well.... lively carbonation.... cocoa, grass and sweet cookie dough in the nose. Peppery mouth feel from the carbonation, malt spine detectable, variety of flavors..cocoa, fruits, some mustiness..not actually complex or layered, slightly watery decernment..wet finish with the signature UB yeast fruity after taste. This is a beer that could have had potential but as I suspect UB makes too many styles with the same yeast strain...this dark just does not come off with too many tastes that don’t mix well ...cocoa tastes from dark malts does not seem to mesh with the peachy fruit tones from the yeast, the hops chosen to not compliment the sweet malts.....just a brew that didn’t do anything for me. aspidites (1272) - manteca, California, USA - MAR 4, 2005
A little dissapointing from Unibroue. A nice unchallenging easy drinking beer. sweet with a touch of yeast driven spice, clove and banana. but just ok for such a hallowed brewery. Commodore (112) - Ontario, CANADA - FEB 21, 2005
Poured a murky, almost oily black/brown with a thin but persistent head. Was first hit with that characteristic Unibroue taste (bologna?), but soon got back into the swing of things. The refermentation really gives it a distinct mouthfeel and texture, but it is hardly as comples as others of this style. beerslayer (753) - New Jersey, USA - FEB 18, 2005
UPDATED: FEB 19, 2005 I really liked this Belgian Ale. Surprised its rated so low nothing earth shattering or ground breaking but, still good brew for the style. Roasted malts, sweet, and yeasty flavors. Finishes clean, crisp, and dry. Gorbalev (3000) - Ontario, CANADA - FEB 16, 2005
Bottle. Dark brown with a small tan head. Lovely dark malty aroma. Taste is rather similar to the Blonde, only with a more pronounced malt flavour. Still suffers from being slightly bland. No hint of alcohol. Again, thanks jercraigs, glad I tried it.
