COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
With La Bolduc, Unibroue recreated an "Old Style" beer reminiscent of the 1950s. A natural and refreshing beer.

La bire "grand public" de Unibroue, bien faite, plus savoureuse que la plupart de ses concurrentes de lpoque, avec une petite finale houblonne qui la distinguait. Pas exactement une pils de style tchque, mais nanmoins agrable.

Pours a dark toned straw with a light haze topped by less than a finger of white fizzy head quickly fading to a porous layer. The nose is grainy and gives sweet malts and some faint herbal hops and some doughy yeasts. The taste stays in the same lane with a medium-light feel and light bitterness. This is a light refreshing beer, perfect on its own or paired with a salad or fish dish. Cheers!

341 ml. old-time medicine bottle dating back from at least the late 90s / probably earlier @ Kulminator: hazy yellow / golden with a small white head / smell is very oxidized & yeasty / taste is bitter yeast, flowers, strongly floral, touch spices, grains, slightly fruity, strongly oxidized / firm to heavy carb. dash too much maybe ? far from best shape at this moment clearly but manageable still

Originally rated August 2005 (when it was still Sleeman who owned Unibroue). This brew is based on 1950s old style lagers. It pours a golden-beige colour with a small head. Retention is lame and lacing is minimal. Slight ring of foam around the collar. Grainy malt nose, but very mild. The taste is challenged between cereal malt, caramel malt and some good hop flavour. It use to come in stubbies before, but now it comes in normal Molson brown bottles. I think the brew has changed since then, as I remember prefering the old stuff in the little bottles. Still a decent lager with bite, and good to see Unibroue not commercializing this one.

Aroma is very grainy and malt. Taste is the crisp pilsner clean taste with malt and a light hop. This is always a good joke around the family get togethers as our in-laws last name is "Bolduc". So they serve it as their long lost family recipe. I dont have the heart to tell them that its below average when it comes to beer.
