hazy orange-yellow with active carbonation supporting a persistent white head that slowly reduces to a cap and never disappears. Beautiful lacing is seen on the glass. scents of banana and clove waft around a lovely bouquet of light fruit, apples and pears to my nose. Sweet with a spicy backround. Lovely. Explosive musty fruitiness that finishes dry and bitter. Oh God, yes. I can die a happy man. Yeasty, fruity, vinous, alcoholic, oh this is beer I live for. Apple and pear predominate in this vinous, alcoholic brew. Oh yes. Just like a good Belgian Strong Pale Ale. Wonderfully attacking with carbonation and not watery. Excellent. Is this heaven? Dear God, this is good. It looks as good as any trappist and tastes as good, too. Damn I love this beer, especially when it warms. Oh thank God for Unibroue.

33 cl Bottle. Yellow to orange in colour, nice white head. A little sour in the aroma, and some fruit. Great flavour, with a god mouthful and hint of apples.

Bottle at Charlie’s Beer, Montpellier. Hazy blonde, with very little head. Sweet, lemony aroma. Like a citric wit, but with a real bite to finish. Sharp and simultaneously sweet alcohol, which lingers. I like the beginning, and I like it overall, but for me, the strength detracts from a good start and flavour.

Great, thick, creamy, strong brew from Unibroue. Nice balanced fruity flavors come together with the high alcohol.

Pours a hazy light yellow with a large amount of foamy white head. Aroma is spicy apricots, cloves, oranges, and sweet malts. Flavor is very smooth and sweet without any abrasively sweet flavors I sometimes associate with tripels. Instead I found it to be very well balanced, first with an incredibly sweet orange, sugared fruit flavor then with a slightly spicy finish. Overall, I found it to be quite enjoyable.

UPDATED: JUL 25, 2005 Tasted this one late into a cold winter’s night. Right choice as it had an uncharacteristically warming alcohol feel to it that did it’s job in keeping me cosy. Poured into a short tulip glass just below room temperature, a good-sized dense off-white head formed atop an opaque deep gold body. The head lasted the distance, added texture to the mouth feel and left a lovely ’Belgian lace’ down the glass. Biting spicy alcohol phenols initially hit dead into the olfactory nerves, and sent a flow through my body. This waned a little in the glass to be replaced with sweet toffee and vanilla notes, cloves and light fruity esters. Creamy and smooth in the mouth, medium bodied and light in carbonation. Well balanced and blended flavours, spicy and peppery across the tongue. Leafy dry hops, low in bitterness and background to the vanilla, toffee, creamed honey and phenolic alcohol feel of this warming, smooth Tripel. A treat of a beer and one I am sure to enjoy again, throughout the colder months.

UPDATED: JAN 19, 2007 Orange color with big creamy, long lasting head. Lots of fruits and spices. Strong malts. I love the aroma. Excellent, and remarkably smooth for such a high alcohol content. The only knock on the beer is its high price locally, which is $7.45 for rthe corked 750 ml bottle.

The beer pours a cloudy pale yellow colour with abundant white froth that lingers on the head. The odor is citrusy and tangy. There exists delightfull flavours of lemon and honey in the midst of heft. It’s got a full body mouthfeel with an alcohol presence. I really enjoy this one and will try it again real soon.
