Bottle at Oncle Antoine in Quebec City. A pricey bottle, but this discovery made my evening! Hazy golden yellow with a big billowy head. Light fruity notes, with touch of alcoholic sweetness in the aroma. Very nice and fruity, with pleasant toasty malt and a moderate yeast presence. Medium effervescent palate. Quite enjoyable, and drinkable. Bottle coded SPK134, I have no idea if this is a rather old bottle or if its new and they are brewing it again, but this was very nice! Bottle at Oncle Antoine in Québec city. Hazy dark golden color. It has the aroma and taste of fruit, the alcohol % is just right to give it a special taste that is not like any other Unibroue beer. Gorbalev (3000) - Ontario, CANADA - AUG 28, 2008
Bottle shared with Hogtown Harry, Blankboy, Jerc, Mabel, and GregClow, generously and surprisingly shared by Blankboy from his Quebec trip - thanks so much Paul!!! Nice lemony aroma, some alcohol and yeast. Nice thin hazy yellow, small foamy white head. Good taste - lemon, yeast, some alcohol. Good stuff. Wow. 1996 bottle. This was the suprise beer of the night at Celebration November 2004 at CapFlu’s place. Brownish colour with yeast chunks and rosemary in my glass. Aroma had some yeast, spices, ginger, brown sugar, apples and cookie dough. Flavour was somewhat sweet with sugar, cookie dough and ginger again, some malt and apple pie. Still had lots of carbonation for a beer that’s 8 years old and it being only 6.5%. Finishes with a medium bitterness and a coating mouthfeel. This goes to show you that Unibroue really knew what it was doing when they brewed this one. A huge thanks to Rastacouere for bringing this. blankboy (7833) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JUL 20, 2008
Bottle (341ml) at ’Pub l’Oncle Antoine’, Quebec City. Pours a hazy bubbly gold with a large slowly diminishing frothy white head. Nice citrusy and spicy aroma with yeast and a mild sourness or tartness to it. Flavour, also nice, is pretty refreshing with citrus and spices, yeast and a light bitter finish. Goes down crazy easy. Alcohol totally hidden. Medium bodied. I must say, this is somewhat similar to their Blanche De Chambly -- still, this is a good, pleasant summer patio beer. Well done. Bottle shared with blankboy, HogTownHarry, jerc, mabel & tupalev - courtesy of blankboy. Yay, Paul rules! Hazy yellow with a wispy white head and a few chunky floaties. Aroma of yeast, malt, lemon and spice. Medium bodied. Flavour is a bit simple by classic Unibroue standards, but still very good, with the lemon and spice notes making it very refreshing. Very suitable that it’s brewed for restaurants as it would go very well with food. Thanks again, Paul - we owe you big time! HogTownHarry (7077) - Toronto (Harbourfront), CANADA - JUL 11, 2008
Bottle (341ml). Shared by blankboy with gregclow, jerc, mabel & tupalev. Woo Hoo! - awesome, Paul! Cloudy light orange pour, average white wispy head (3+). nice tart lemon/sweet malt aroma, very yeasty - classic sweet "Belgiums." Taste is also a smooth blend of lemon, yeast and sweet malt, light and not too alcoholic. Thick mouthfeel, solid carbonation, medium malty finsh - pretty solid tart/sweet brew - again, many, many thanks, Paul! mabel (9874) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - AUG 13, 2008
