In November 1992 Maudite (the damned one), was the first strong beer to be distributed in Quebec grocery stores. Maudite is a mahogany-colored, rich-tasting premium beer that has a distinctive, complex taste. Because of the warmth it releases, this strong character beer must be served cool but not cold. Perfect with pasta, red meats, stews and spicy dishes, it also makes a good aperitif and after-dinner drink.
Maudite has a typically Quebecois name that is reminiscent of the legend of the Chasse-Galerie (the legend of the Flying Canoe). Legend has it that a group of lumberjacks struck a deal with the devil to fly home in their canoes, guided by Satan himself, to make it home in time for Christmas.
Gold medal winner in 1995 and 1996 and the Chicago Beverage Tasting Institute.

VDuquerroux (1899) - Airvault, Haut-Poitou, FRANCE - OCT 2, 2016
Bottle, 341mL. Home. A sparkling brown amber beer with a medium off-white foamy head ; ok retention and lacing. Roast, biscuit, caramel, herbal note. Medium sweet, round and warming, light dry fresh bitter. Full body, silky texture, good carbonation, round sweet roasty finish. Overall, a good beer !

gpekar (497) - Florida, USA - SEP 25, 2016
Poured a cloudy mahogany with a 2" creamy head. The head dropped to just a film over about 5 minutes leaving some light lacing. The aroma was mild with malt, dark stone fruit, bit of a tart citrus scent and some spice. The beer had a slightly light texture with a nutty flavor at first. The flavor is very smooth with a bit of a tangy taste and just a hint of some sour. The beer is very smooth, mild and easy drinking.

A: lambic style, sour tones, fruits.
T: malty, sour tones, banana, dried fruits, medium body, good carbonation, may be not good to rate this but for this beer style such things should not happen, 341ml bottle from Eat Brussels 2016 festival.

Update 15/12/2016, 341ml bottle from Christmas market in Brussels.
F: big, off-white, good retention,
C: dark brown, hazy.
A: malt, caramel, molasses, yeast, fruity esters, banana, peach.
T: malt, fruity esters, yeast, peach, spicy, dried fruits, hint of boozy, medium to full body, high carbonation, yes very tasty but to high carbonation is a little disturbing.

355ml bottle BB 7/14/18
Sweet malty aroma.
Hazy brown with OK head.
Medium bitterness with a metallic note at the back end. A touch of yeast but otherwise rather thin.

DenverLogan (1274) - North Bend, Washington, USA - SEP 1, 2016
From a 12 oz bottle into a wide mouth Kasteel stem glass. Pours semi cloudy brown with head and lace. Aroma of roasty malts, brown sugar, minerals and grains. Medium carbonation and mouthfeel. Flavors of roasty malts, minerals, tropical fruit rind, grains, rye, bitter herbs, floral hops. Overall big, rich, complex, compelling yet a bit rough, just like a damned one!

Look: copper, almost clear.

Aroma is sweet, fruity with some spicy ethers and sweet malts, very light grassy and earthy hops.
Taste: sweet with light sourness.
Flavour: compote fruits, raisins, muscate, alcohol.
Finish is spicy and tart.

Good and similar to their tripel and quad.

Dorkenstein (564) - - AUG 28, 2016
Bready malts, raisin skin, and honey. Taste is raisin skin, yeasty bread, vanilla, and some caramel.

dnicolaescu (2748) - Chișinău, MOLDOVA - AUG 24, 2016
Shared BOTTLE 341 ml. Dark red, big light beige with low retention. Baked apples with hint of nuts, sugar and alcohol. A bit straight forward. Sugar, cooked fruit, some heat, no hops. Kinda simplistic - sugar and booze.

chadski (167) - California, USA - AUG 14, 2016
Head dissipates really quickly. Maple brown appearance. Only detect malty aromas. Sparkly, light mouth feel. Molasses flavor. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
