Dark red-brown body, moderate off-white head, spotty lacing. Nose is peppery yeast, dark fruits, and mellow caramel. Flavor focuses a bit more on the fruity malts than the yeast (when compared to the nose). Pleasant and evolving flavor profile. Medium bodied, mellow but appropriate carbonation, clean finish.

Bottle boo for my birthday thanks to my lovely wife. This beer reminds me more of a Doppel Bock lager. Very clean and drinkable with a good alcohol content especially on an empty stomach. Most certainly does not compete with Belgium Trappist style beer but worth drinking if you like this style. ironcontra (493) - ATL, Georgia, USA - NOV 26, 2017
green apple, rather sweet, cloves, high carbonation, ok, but to me average compared to the Belgian belgians Quick3Beers (1465) - East Falmouth, Massachusetts, USA - NOV 3, 2017
Pours a rich dark brown from a bottle, light tan head. Aroma is a big malty caramel, but also some raw sugar. Flavor is dark candi sugar, but hints of something more spicy or vegetal, maybe tobacco or leather. Pretty good beer. GTAEgeek (2468) - Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA - OCT 30, 2017
Someone abandoned this bottle at a share. Pours a hazy, copper color, with a small, bubbly, beige head. Smells of apples, cinnamon, caramel, and black pepper. Sweet, fruity, and a bit spicy. Light to medium body, with a crisp, lively, and clean mouthfeel. This is an interestingly light and fruity beer. Not at all what I expected, but tasty.

yeasty and malty, complex and effervescent, maudite is one of the most unique beers i've had the pleasure of tasting. expect the unexpected... its malt profile is a bold deep red/brown with a smooth dry finish, its yeast profile both fruity and savoury, its hop profile is just bitter enough to know it's still beer, with earthy notes of moss and pine... this beer is truly Quebec. luttonm (6862) - Seattle, Washington, USA - OCT 16, 2017
Bottle in Seattle. Heavy and thick off-white head, dark rosy amber body, thick haze. Nice Belgian yeast and rosy malt nose. Some ester up front with round fruity malts dominating. Basic but enjoyable dubbel. Some vegetal qualities. Nice. beern (222) - Alabama, USA - OCT 3, 2017
Pours mahogany in color and mostly translucent with a pillowy one to two finger off-white head with an aroma of sweet Belgian yeast and malt. Tastes of clove, banana and bubblegum. The slight sweetness from the yeast flavors and malt balance very well with the slight bitterness of the clove and alcohol. It's medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Sweet Belgian Yeast! higgsbison (271) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - SEP 21, 2017
First time I had it I made notes later and said I like it I need to try it again. I just did. Pretty awesome. Probably my favorite double
Had it again in December 2016. Did not really care for it so much. Knocked it down from up 4.3 to a 3.7

12oz bottle at home. Cloudy amber brown with a huge fluffy off-white head. Sweet malt, caramel, dark fruit, molasses, toffee and nuts, spices, then yeast. Nice full body, mild carbonation. Long spicy, malty. Love this.
