Hazy blonde. Spicy aroma with some bready character and paint-like phenols. Spicy, smooth. There’s a soft sweetness to it that carries the spice well. It’s quite pleasant, but I can’t say that it transcends the sameness of the Unibroue yeast. bhensonb (15487) - Woodland, California, USA - SEP 16, 2008
Bottle, corked and caged, from Wine and Cheese Place in St. Louis, MO. Hazy golden color with a fizzy/frothy white head. Bit of funk, bit of citrus, bit of candi for aroma. Medium body with strong, almost biting, carbonation. Flavor is clove, funk, yeast, citrus. Finish is pretty nearly astringent. Extremely good tasting. Mouthsmacking. Suggestive of a bier de garde?
