Post-Mondial tasting at Goldorak’s pad, approximately half of a 1999 330 ml bottle, thanks all you Montrealers who "didn’t need to have it again." It pours into my trembling glass with a surprisingly full, snow-white head atop a hazy gold body with faint flecks of yeasty goodness.....the nose is full of candy-cane sugar, touches of butter and honey, plenty of oxidation and dry cobwebby yeast but still warm, inviting and clean....the body is quite smoothed out, well-aged to be sure with old caramel-toffee and Cointreau, lemon cream and towards the finish honey and light alcoholic touches....rather thin but not watery....I was quite pleased with how well this stood up, though I’d expect a strong Belgian to at least be drinkable; this is far more than that, the aging has done some really interesting things to the body, making a very smooth, mellow and somewhat whiskyish, lightly syrupy concoction. All in all, a delight and I can finally cross of the beer I’ve waited longest of all to try. Thank you so much, whoever brought this treat! Quevillon (3172) - Boisbriand, Quebec, CANADA - JUN 4, 2006
Post-mondial Tasting. À noté que ce produit est assé vieux. Couleur jaune beige, petit collet. Arome de pain crouté. Goût de pain blanc. Domage! aspidites (1271) - manteca, California, USA - MAR 4, 2005
reminiscent of westmalee yeast on the nose with dark candy sugar and caramlised malt . Plums and raisins with a touch of spice make for a very happy brew. mrkimchee (1414) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JUL 20, 2004

2004 Gathering at Tiggmtl, 2000 bottle: Hazy dark golden colorwith a nice white head. Complex aged toffee and butterscotch gingerbread aroma with a touch of grapes. Starts rich and caramely sweet with a drier earthy finish. Hides its alcohol magnificently and has aged very well. Many thanks to Rastacouere for sharing this! Marzipan, dark fruit, (plum & raisin), brown sugar in a spicy sweet aroma. Murky brown-orange with white head that covers. Sudsy lacing. Pepper, lemon, malty sweet. Mouthfeel is pleasantly calm with low carbonation. Despite it’s age this beer is still graceful and enjoyable. Bottle (enjoyed at Mondial RB Gathering 2004 with CapFlu, CaptainCougar, JerCraigs, MartinT, OKBeer, Radek and Rastacouere). CapFlu (5132) - Victoria, British Columbia, CANADA - JUN 9, 2004
UPDATED: JUL 6, 2004 (Bottle) Mondial de la Bière 2004. Nice and oily texture. Strong brown sugar and Halls eucolyptus nose. Thin, white head and a sediment filled glass. Lemon, hoppy and yeasty but short on finish... I cannot remember if I heard this from a girlfriend once? Thanks to Rastacouere for this dream fulfilled.
