Poured from a bottle brought by some Ratebeerian (I can’t remember who) to the Real Ale Fest 2005, PP Carlsbad. Awash in a sea of hop juice, I launched myself upon this non-IPA respite. Hazy light orange with a largish biege head. Aroma is lemony, yeasty and buttery; that is, sumptuous. The woody orange peel flavor was intense, riding upon a light caramel malt backbone that sported notes of honey. Medium body. Finish was spicy and dry, with a residual sweetness at the perfect level, and sublte hops that added a little prickliness. I liked this beer a lot, and was sad that it was distributed so quickly. Deep golden-orange colour, thin off-white head, very cloudy. Sweet spicy aroma, loads of Unibroue yeastiness with some fairly sweaty/earthy aromas as well. Peachy esters, brown sugar and even a bit of toastiness. Very Unibroue, but there is a bit more malty character than is typical. Hazyamber pour with a bubbly beige head. Sweet citrus with a peach and sweet scotch tone; bready malts and Yeasty scone flavors start from the top. the middle is citrus and the finish has a mild white pepper nip. Figs and nice aftertaste.

Anciennement, cette bière était un produit de la brasserie Seigneuriale à Boucherville (rive sud de Monréal). Cette micro-brasserie à été procuré par Sleeman, par la suite ses opérations ont arrèté. Sous Unibroue, une de ces bières (celle-ci) est revenu sur le marché en 2005.

Cloudy amber-orange with no head. Banana and phenolc aroma plus some sour like from brettanomyces. The flavour is surprisingly sweet with soft banana and other flavours characteristic of the Unibroue yeast strain. Spicy black pepper and mild bitterness. Light orange in colour with strong carbonation. Fantastic aromas of bready malts, pears, and spicy Belgian yeast. Both caramel and bready malts make an appearance in the mouth, along with more complex fruit flavors (apple, pear, peach, and orange). Pours a brilliantly clear amber hued color (really the color of actual amber) and is topped by a three finger thick, tan colored head that is made up of large bubbles. The aroma is a mix of spicy yeast notes and a soft, slightly tart fruitiness. I can pick out aromatic notes, grains of paradise, a bit of ginger, dusty black-pepper, and earthy note reminiscent of damp slightly metallic loam, green apples, pear, a touch of woody mushroom (though only a touch). As I get used to it I get some richer fruit notes towards the end that remind me of raisins, prunes and even some notes of brown sugar and caramel. The taste is quite a bit drier than I was expecting. The dryness accentuates the spicy character in the finish and brings out notes of ginger, a definite note of clove, perhaps something similar to ginger, and a musty almost cellar like note. The beer finishes with a bit of tartness that brings out the sour apple and pear notes. As the beer warms, a bit a soft sweetness begins to pick up that reminds me of brown sugar. This beer is quite light, and despite a bit of yeast-derived phenolics and astringency in the finish, is quite drinkable.
The taste does not quite live up to the aroma, but it is still quiet nice; and I like that the sweetness is predominantly held in check, which really lets the spicy notes to come through. This is really quite an enjoyable beer in the end. It does not quite live up to the level set by the opening notes in the aroma, but it is still quite nice in the end.
